Nashville chapter of SME will join Tennessee Chamber of Commerce and the Tennessee Manufacturers Association in showcasing opportunity on Manufacturing Day (October 2, 2015). Opening at 8 am, Nashville's Adventure Science Center will welcome participants engaged in business and education as well as welcome those looking for manufacturing employment. There will be multiple opportunities at this event as fostered by Business Track, Education Track, and Job Seeker Track.

SME Education Foundation recognized Ford Motor Co as its 2015 Outstanding Corporate Partner for its support over 20+ years and cumulative charitable donations exceeding $1 million. Kelly Burr, executive director of Shop Rat Foundation, received the individual award for her leadership in directing hands-on learning activities for youth involving STEM concepts with focus on manufacturing. Foundation's president Brian Ruestow recognized both organizations for their impact and support.

SME elects 7 members to its 2015 College of Fellows.

SME has elected 7 manufacturing practitioners, researchers, and educators to its College of Fellows. SME Fellows are individuals from industry, research, and academia who must have 20+ years of experience in manufacturing. In addition, they need to have demonstrated an overall impact to social, technological, and educational aspects of the manufacturing profession, and be a current member of SME. They join the more than 370 SME members who have been elected since program’s inception.

SME Education Foundation awarded over $100,000 in scholarships to high school and college-enrolled students pursuing advanced manufacturing degrees. One of the largest scholarships, SME Education Family Scholarship (4-year, $70,000) was given to Zachary Bibik. Two one-year, $10,000 Family Scholarships were given to Emma Hoying and Zachary Mercy. Gene M. Nelson Director Scholarship was awarded to Mary Fundenberger, Kelsey Scheppers, and Kelsey Taylor.
