Tasks This positions covers the Sentinels Data Systems Engineering operational service support, within the Sentinels Data Systems Management Teams. The main area of expertise for this service request is the Mission Control System MCS, although support on the area of Simulators SIM is expected The primary area of responsibility for this service is for Data Systems Operations Engineering, covering the areas of the following two Mission Data Systems MDS Sentinels Mission Control Systems Engineering support Sentinels Simulator Engineering support For both of these Mission data systems, the service includes Specification of the software requirements of these systems in collaboration with the operational users Definition and specification of their internal and external interfaces in agreement with the relevant parties Acceptance of the deliverables received from industry, ensuring correctness, completeness and compliance to the applicable requirements Support to the mission operations staff as required in the various operational phases, including System Validation Tests, simulation campaign and in software support coordination as part of the Flight Control Team during critical operational phases such as launches Coordination with other internal ESOC or external units, e.g. with the unit supplying mission data systems infrastructure and with the unit supplying the ICT systems and services Participation in research and development activities in the area of mission data systems. Participate in the testing and validation of the various infrastructure elements used by the Sentinels MDS as well as definition of the future evolution of these systems. Collaboration with other missions to ensure crossmission consistency and harmonization between Sentinel and other missions MDS systems, spinin from other missions into the Sentinel MDS and spinout from the Sentinel system to future systems including, but not limited to, future Sentinel missions. Essential requirements Good MCS knowledge Familiarity with MICONYS Ability to understand and accurately predict behavior of complex systems Service provision in English Well organised, able to prioritise and manage several activities in parallel Familiarity with programmingscripting languages e.g. C, Java, JavaScript, Shell scripting Capability to interact with users in customer oriented manner. This include 1st and 2nd line support. Desirable requirements Good SIM knowledge Familiarity with SIMULUS Experience working with operational missions, and particular previous experience with CopernicusSentinels missions Familiarity with the ESOC working environment, procedures and Quality Management system QMS Experience with prelaunch activities and launch campaigns of satellites. Review of documentation dealing with technical evolutions of the EUMETSAT infrastructure Requirements Relevant experience in preparation of requirements, design, interfaces and testing documentation for data processing systems for Earth Observation missions experience on data processing for high data rates missions will be considered an asset. Relevant experience with L1L2 processing software for Earth Observation missions, either for operationsmaintenance or specification and development. Knowledge of the requirements engineering process, including relation between requirements, ICDs, design and testing documentation. Ability to learn and develop the needed skills and knowledge to contribute to the development of EPSSG. This includes the ability to rapidly absorb, and make use of, information presented in written and oral communications in a dynamic context. Willingness to work within a multidisciplinary context in cooperation with other teams. The ability to maintain a system overview is essential.
