Cisco beats Q1 expectations with 8% sales growth, EPS up 60%

(Telecompaper) Cisco reported a strong start to its fiscal year, with revenue in the October quarter up 8 percent year-on-year to USD 13.1 billion. Net profit rose 48 percent to USD 3.5 billion, and EPS jumped 60 percent to USD 0.77. The results were better than the company's guidance.

We are looking for an ambitious engineer, who wants to take a challenge and is willing to contribute to our excellent team onsite our customer EUMETSAT. The tasks will generally cover the routine operations of the EPS MetOp Spacecrafts and its different instruments as well as the operations preparation of the upcoming EPSSG MetOpSG Spacecraft. Responsibilities Duties Support the routine operations of the EPS MetOp satellites. Provision of operational expertise to the relevant system andor platform and instrument. Maintain the corresponding operations documentation and flight procedures. Perform trending and performance analysis on the corresponding subsystems and instruments. Investigation into satellite anomalies. Participation in satellite oncall support rota. Identification and support to the implementation of system and process improvements concerning the spacecraft operations team responsibilities. Support the systems and operations preparation of EPSSG MetOpSG satellite. Support the system and operations preparation of other LEO satellites. Qualifications Experience University degree in the domain of engineering, physics, or equivalent. Some experience in operations preparation and routine operations of satellite systems and subsystems preferably LEO are an asset. LEO EPS Spacecraft Operations Engineer

We are looking to further enhance our team by adding a Metop Spacecraft Operations Engineer You will be based at our clients headquarters in Darmstadt, Germany. In this large European Agency you will find an excellent and modern working environment with challenging tasks and responsibilities. Your Tasks Include The Key person shall work in the Operations and User Services Department as a member of the Metop Spacecraft Operations Team. The key person shall be assigned and trained to provide operations expertise and support to one or more platform subsystems and or payload instruments, depending on his or her experience and the overall team needs. The key person shall also participate in coordinating the satellite operations activities of other team members and external teams responsible for onboard software management, simulator support, mission control, mission planning, flight dynamics and ground stations. Furthermore, the key person shall support system and operations preparation activities for MetopC, for Metop Second Generation satellites and possibly also for Sentinel3 and Jason CS. The key person shall be required to support operations during normal working hours, as well as support the oncall operations engineer rota, such that safe and efficient operations are ensured by the Spacecraft Operations Team on a 247 basis. The tasks of the Key person will typically include Support to the routine operations of Metop A, B and preparing for MetopC, comprising Provision of operational expertise to one or more platform subsystems andor payload instruments Maintain the corresponding operations documentation and flight procedures, including the update and operational validation of procedures releases in a configuration controlled environment Perform trending and performance analysis on the corresponding subsystems and instruments, including definition and possibly prototyping of additional analysis checks where necessary Investigations into satellite anomalies. Furthermore, it would be a distinct advantage for the Key person to have experience with some of the following Inorbit operations of Low Earth Orbit Earth Observation satellites Experience in the operation or development of satellite ground segment facilities, in particular procedure development, monitor and control, mission planning, onboard software management, performance analysis, configuration management and simulator facilities. Specification of system and operational concepts, facility requirements Familiarity with system change control and configuration management procedures. Data analysis software packages such as MATLAB. File parsing languages such as PERL, AWK. Use of VBA for development of adhoc tools in MS Office applications. The candidate should be selfmotivated and able to work in an organised and efficient manner with minimum supervision. Strong data analysis, processing and synthesis skills are essential and an ability to recognise opportunities for improvements in areas of work and implement appropriate solutions is highly desirable.
