OnePlus launches new flagship smartphone for USD 399

(Telecompaper) OnePlus has unveiled its latest smartphone, the first available without an invite to buy. The OnePlus 3 is available on the company's website for USD 399, EUR 399 and GBP 309, and OnePlus also opened pop-up stores in New York, London, Paris and Berlin to promote the device. Running the Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor, the OnePlus is 35 percent faster than its predecessor, OnePlus claims. It also adds 'Dash Charge' for fast charging of ther 3,000 mAh battery. The OnePlus 3 also boasts 6 GB of RAM, an improved fingerprint sensor and the OnePlus OxygenOS based on Android Marshmallow. It features a 5.5-inch 1080p Amoled display and all-metal body and a 16-megapixel rear camera with OIS and 8 megapixel front camera.

NXP to sell Standard Products business for USD 2.75 bln

(Telecompaper) NXP Semiconductors has agreed to divest its Standard Products business to a consortium of financial investors consisting of Beijing Jianguang Asset Management (JAC Capital) and Wise Road Capital. Under the terms of the agreement, the consortium will pay around USD 2.75 billion for the business. The transaction is expected to close in the first quarter of 2017, pending regulatory approvals and employee representative consultations.

Microsoft buys LinkedIn for USD 26.2 bln

Under the deal, which includes LinkedInīs net cash, the company will retain its brand, culture and independence, and Jeff Weiner will remain CEO, reporting to Microsoft chief Satya Nadella.

Ericsson inks USD 1 bln systems overhaul deal with Vimpelcom

(Telecompaper) Vimpelcom said it has entered into a software partnership with Ericsson in a deal worth more than USD 1 billion set to transform Vimpelcom's global IT infrastructure. The deal includes the complete overhaul of Vimpelcom's IT infrastructure across 11 countries and 12 time zones. Vimpelcom will digitise and globalise its Business Support Systems (BSS) infrastructure using Ericsson's new software and cloud technologies.

New players bid USD 5 bln each for Yahoo assets - report
