Vitrociset Belgium is looking for a candidate with the profile described below to deploy in ESTEC Please submit applications not later than 2222016 by EMAIL to Mr. Massimiliano Mazza, Head of Engineering services Satellite Operations M.Mazzavitrocisetbelgium.com cc. jobsvitrocisetbelgium.com Specific Tasks The contractor will be responsible for providing electrical power system and conditioning technical support, to ESA projects and technology development contracts and shall thus perform the following activities The design, development and test of spacecraft power systems for onboard applications. This work encompasses the definition of centralised power systems having overall power levels up to 25 kilowatts, together with their interfaces with respect to solar arrays and batteries, the attendant power distributionprotection equipments and pyrotechnic activation functions. Detailed tasks include the overall system design necessary for the development of faulttolerant power control and distribution concepts, the detailed design of the power regulators and the identificationuse of tools and methods for ensuring dependable design and verification. The development of simulation blocks for system analysis batteries, solar cells arrays, power control and distribution units useful for the independent evaluation of critical power and energy budgets in support to running projects of the Agency. Support to laboratory activities concerning design and development or verification of circuits for power management and distribution solar array and battery conversion electronics, power distribution and protection electronics, power conversion for generic and specific purposes, including redundancy and protections. Active involvement in critical RD activities support by simulation, worst case analysis and laboratory testing of the overall system or of the most critical subunits. Assisting to the development and validation of worst case simulation blocks for electrical equipment analysis converters, shunt regulators, current limiters, protections, critical telemetry or telecommand functions useful for the independent check of the most critical equipment functionality and performances, in support to all programmes reviews where the power conditioning section is involved. The development and verification of high voltage design technologies and associated power converters, suitable for application as Electronic Power Conditioners EPCs for specialised spacecraft payloads such as Travelling Wave Tube Assemblies TWTAs and Electric Propulsion Concepts. In order to support these skills, the candidate should also have familiarity with simulation software for analogue systems MathlabSimulink or similar and circuit analysis tools such as PSPICE or Microcap. The contractor will be deployed in project support andor RD contract support according to workload and priorities set in the section. Specific Competence Requirements A university degree or equivalent qualification in Electronic Engineering, Space Systems Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics or a related discipline. o The contractor should have a good electrical power processing background, together with a good experience of digital and analogue electronics and control theory. o In addition the contractor should have specific experience in the domain of power conditioning electronics together, with hands on knowledge of the circuit design of such systems. o Also the contractor should have good experience in the development of computer models, especially with SPICEbased simulators. o To fulfil the identified tasks, the contractor shall have a university degree or equivalent in Electrical or Electronic Engineering or Physics. o The knowledge and the experience on High Voltage power conditioning for space application constitute an asset. o We are looking for a dynamic and well motivated candidate, with good team work and communication capabilities.

Experience Qualifications A Masters Degree in Engineering, with a specialization that includes electricalelectronics engineering is mandatory. Additional specialization in thermal control would be considered as an advantage Have at least 2 years of experience in satellite engineering and operations Have strong analytical and problemsolving skills Ability to acquire detailed technical information within predefined deadlines and apply it in daytoday situations Have strong computer software skills with proficiency in at least one programming language Ability to react to contingencies and cope with high stress situations Fluency in English, with strong communication skills, both written and oral Team spirit and ability to integrate into an international environment. DUTIES Reporting to the Head of the Power Management and Distribution Section, the Power Conditioning Engineer will be responsible for providing specialist support in all aspects of power electronics and associated technology to one or more spacecraft projects, while additionally preparing, monitoring and guiding applied research contracts in the area of power conditioning and distribution. The main tasks will be maintaining stateoftheart expertise and competence in the area of power conditioning and distribution technologies establishing design standards, including specifications and guidelines providing power conditioning and distribution support to studies and approved ESA projects, including payload equipment driving development contracts related to future power conditioning and distribution concepts and technologies required for future ESA projects contributing to the dissemination of the results of activities performed and to knowledge transfer across the Agency.
