Oi revenues fall 3.8% in Q2, EBITDA drops 24%

(Telecompaper) Brazilian operator Oi, under judicial reorganization, ended the second quarter of 2016 with net revenue of BRL 6.52 billion, down 3.8 percent on the same period in 2015 and 3.4 percent less than in Q1 2016. The company blamed the decline on the poor economic climate, which hurt B2B and prepaid revenues, as well as regulatory price cuts and fewer customers. The operator had a net loss from continuing operators of BRL 656 million in the quarter, widening from a loss of BRL 442 million a year earlier. EBITDA fell 24.4 percent to BRL 1.43 billion, and capex amounted to BRL 1.21 billion, an increase of 16.7 percent from a year ago.
Zain Group H1 revenue falls 2% to KWD 552 mln, EBITDA up 6%

(Telecompaper) Zain Group reported revenues for the first six months of 2016 of KWD 552 million, down 2 percent year-on-year. EBITDA rose by 6 percent to KWD 255 million compared with the same period in 2015. The EBITDA margin increased to 46.2 percent from 42.8 percent for the same period of 2015.
Bharti Airtel quarterly revenues up 8%, EBITDA grows 16%

(Telecompaper) Bharti Airtel reported revenues for its fiscal first quarter to June up 8 percent year-on-year to INR 255.47 billion, led by strong demand for data services in its home market India. EBITDA increased 16 percent to INR 95.91 billion, and the margin rose to 37.5 percent from 34.8 a year ago, driven by improved profitability in both India and Africa. The company's net profit fell 31 percent year-on-year to INR 14.62 billion, hurt by charges for asset impairments and the new exchange rate regime in Nigeria. Capital expenditure increased 23 percent to INR 49.25 billion, and operating cash flow was up 10 percent to INR 46.66 billion.

Tele2 quarterly EBITDA falls 22%, sales up 1%

(Telecompaper) Tele2 reported a drop in second-quarter profits as the company increased commercial spending in an effort to accelerate sales in its largest markets, Sweden and the Netherlands. While revenues rose slightly to SEK 6.668 billion from SEK 6.611 billion a year ago, EBITDA dropped to SEK 1.087 billion from SEK 1.393 billion. The margin dropped to 16 percent from 21 percent a year ago. After SEK 95 million in restructuring charges and a higher tax bill, Tele2 posted a net loss of SEK 60 million from the quarter, versus a profit of SEK 309 million a year ago. Tele2 maintained its outlook for mobile end-user service revenue growth in the mid single digits in 2016, after 2 percent growth in Q2.

Telia grows Q2 EBITDA 4%, still sees small FY increase

(Telecompaper) Telia has maintained its full-year outlook for flat to slightly higher comparable EBITDA in 2016, despite growth of over 7 percent in the first half of 2016. The company said it saw a solid first six months, but expects a more difficult comparison for results in the second half. For the second quarter, the company saw earnings growth in seven of its eight continuing markets. While net sales fell 2.0 percent to SEK 21.13 billion, comparable EBITDA rose 4.1 percent to SEK 6.39 billion. Net profit from continuing operations was up 34.8 percent year-on-year to SEK 2.85 billion, but the continued weakness at the Eurasia operations up for sale meant the result for shareholders dropped 55.8 percent to SEK 1.44 billion.
