Cal Val Scientist Ion Radiative Transfer Simulation

For our activities in CNR ISAC, we are currently looking for a Cal Val Scientist ion Radiative Transfer Simulation on a fixed term contract with a duration until 31122016. Main responsibilities Tasks and Responsibilities As Cal Val Scientist you will perform the following activities, under the direction and guidelines of the Cal Val Task Manager scientific review on radiation budget studies selection of specific test cases for ATSR like instruments setup and operation of radiative transfer models RTM evaluation of potential instrumental issues on radiation budget evaluations participation to conferencesymposia production of scientific publication. Inputs to these activities, for which awareness is required scientific literature on the topic RTM models CNR AATSR12 data structure and contents. Ideal candidate Requirements You should have a high level of selfmotivation, the capability to work effectively in a team and autonomously, and excellent organisation skills. A strong proactive attitude is required in identifying problems and proposing solutions. Furthermore a generic background on Earth atmospheric science is required. Mandatory knowledge and experience requisites are Good knowledge of passive infrared remote sensing of the atmosphere Experience in development of radiative transfer models RTM limb, nadir. This includes Experience in SW development, in particular for the analysis of RTM output Experience in setup and run of RTM both prototype and stateoftheart model as e.g. MODTRAN and RTTOV Documented capability to support with radiative transfer modelling the development of an algorithm to retrieve Total Column Water Vapour from ATSR like instruments. Development of tools for analysis of large set of data and data visualization IDL Experience with Earth Observation Satellite missions, and in particular ESAs AATSR12 data structure and contents. Mandatory skills and attributes Proactive approach to activity controlling and tracking Capability to work in a very ordered and structured way Capability to produce high quality scientific documentation reports, based on external inputs Very good English and technical documents writing Be hosted in Bologna. In addition, you should have Attitude to follow guidelines and to require minimum supervision, proactively requesting help when needed Ability to plan and report and to work to deadline Availability to travel within Europe to attend meetings. Additional assets Experience in Matlab or Python SW languages Experience with Earth Observation Satellite missions with additional optical sensors. A vacancy for a Simulation Software Development Engineer mf has arisen within Airbus Defence Space in Toulouse. The main mission of the department is to supply Functional Verification Infrastructure FVI to the teams responsible for satellite validation, either for the entire satellite or by subsystem Avionics Validation, AOCS Algorithm, Onboard Software, Platform, Payload. The test infrastructure consists of different types of products depending on requirements and functions based on fully digital or hybrid simulators with electrical interfaces with the satellite. In the simulation infrastructure section, you will join the simulation infrastructure SimTG development team, and more specifically the team developing emulators for the processors installed on AIRBUS DS satellites. Initially, you will contribute to the software developments for various emulator products in terms of user support and corrective and perfective maintenance. You will then progress towards becoming responsible for one or more software components with the definition of a roadmap and the study of new technologies adapted to these developments. You wish to become part of a dynamic, transnational and innovative team. Within this context, your main activities will include Technical analysis of the new functions requiredcorrection of faults Specification, architecture, coding, validating upgrades Technical and operational documentation Product deployment and user support Definition of the product roadmap for emulators and tools contribution to softwarerelated RD Technical assistant supervision. We are looking for candidates with the following skills and experience Engineering degree or equivalent, in Information Technology Initial experience or significant internship in software development, ideally in compilation tools and LLVM and JIT technologies Knowledge of CC, Python and Java programming languages in Linux and Windows environments Knowledge of processor architectures Sparc, ARM, etc. and their assemblers would be a plus Interest in IT development and innovation Creativity Excellent interpersonal skills Autonomy Advanced level of French English.
