A position as CAD Design Office Engineer mf has just opened at Airbus Defence and Space in Toulouse. The chosen candidate will join the Satellite Design Office. As a design engineer within the design office, part of the Mechanical Design Office MDO entity, you will be in charge of developing products from design phase through to manufacture. You will also be responsible for the projects financial performance and programming. According to requirements, your activities can revolve around three specific design areas defining mechanical structures, defining electrical harness routing, defining passive thermal protection MLI. Your main tasks and responsibilities will include Using CAD tools to design products or subsystems in the form of 3D models Participating in the functional analysis of the project, and optimisation of the design for manufacture and assembly, Overseeing the relationship between the project and design team supervisors, Guaranteeing technical quality and delivery to deadline and budget On Quality, On Time, On Costs OQOTOC, Ensuring consistency between the specification and detailed design, Creating the work plan engineering and development for detailed defining of activities and acceptance, Overseeing communication between manufacturers and being involved in monitoring the manufacture of parts, Providing operational support to business managers in order to put in place and monitor MDO processes, particularly for cabling or MLI activities. Some business travel will be needed 4 times a year in Europe and therefore you must be prepared to travel accordingly. We are looking for candidates with the following experience and skills Holder of a mechanical engineering degree or equivalent, Initial experience in CAD design or a good understanding of this field, Good command of CATIA V5 and mechanical construction Initial experience in managing Digital MockUps DMU would be desirable, Ideally, experience in project management and budgeting, A good understanding of industry manufacturing and assembly technologies and spatial structures would be desirable, The ability to integrate into a team, flexibility and adaptability Rigorous, reactive, a selfstarter, takes initiative, strong interpersonal skills, excellent communication skills, Advanced level in English and French. The OneWeb project aims to provide permanent and affordable web connectivity throughout the world. Airbus Defence Space was selected by OneWeb as a partner for developing and producing a new generation of 900 satellites, leading to a revolutionary change in our Space industry and creating the first mass production of satellites in history. Within the French subsidiary of the Airbus OneWeb Satellites Joint Venture, your main tasks and responsibilities will include Ensuring spacecraft layout and design, including components, modules, and top assembly, with focuses on payload integration, powerdataRF interconnects, and module equipment packaging Participating in trade studies to optimise hardware layout and overall mechanical design Providing ownership of spacecraft top assembly CAD model Creating interface control and assembly drawings for equipment, modules, and spacecraft top assembly Compiling and managing budgets for mass properties Creating tolerance analyses and accessibility studies to support manufacturing, assembly, and test operations Providing engineering floor support for AIT activities. This role will involve some travel for business 20 of the time, worldwide and as such you must be able to travel accordingly. We are looking for candidates with the following skills and experience Educated to degree level or equivalent, 5 years of experience in CAD and accommodation engineering, Proficiency with CAD modelling and drafting tools, including Solidworks, Catia, ProECreo, NX, or equivalent, Knowledge of spacecraft design, configuration and equipment layout, Ideally, experience in mechanical design of spacecraft structures, mechanisms, thermal hardware, harnesses, etc., Handson experience developing satellite hardware or prototypes in a multifunctional team environment would be a plus, Interpersonal skills to drive projects within an international environment, Excellent communication and coordination skills, Proactive and independent approach, ability to make decisions, Negotiation level of English French would be a plus.
