The fall of PTA prices in the last weeks has left polyester producers with larger margins, whereas the rise of MEG prices could, however, result in new options at staple fiber and filament plants. Viscose staple fiber prices have very slightly bottomed out today in China, rising for the first time since early July. The short-lived polyester rally of the last days may have triggered the price increase. Our weekly report covers the viscose/rayon staple fiber and filament markets over the previous 12 months.
