Cotton prices are now falling, however, which could pressure yarn prices in the coming weeks. Our comprehensive review of Indian yarn prices covers the domestic markets in Ludhiana (Punjab) and Indore (Madhya Pradesh), with a wide range of products and counts, including cotton yarns (carded and combed), polyester spun, polyester-cotton, polyester-viscose and polyester-acrylic. Crude oil prices were today rebounding after falling at the start of the week. The current volatility of the global market offers a sign of coming uncertainties for the polyester chain. Over the long term, polyester prices could however get some support from the historical drop in excess capacities in China. The slaughter cow receipts at the test auctions are starting to drop a little each week which is normal after the bigger fall runs are over. Prices were steady to $3 higher with the biggest jump in the Southern Plains where there were a smaller percentage of slaughter cows and more bred cows.
