Polyester fiber prices were not far from bottoming out at the end of last week, before the start of national holidays in China. With crude oil prices now soaring and paraxylene surging, PTA prices have begun recovering. Polyester fiber processors could have to digest or pass a rise of more than 20% in their material costs since last June, if prices would eventually stabilize after holidays. As a result, the price difference between cotton and polyester has sharply fallen in the three countries, although PSF prices remain everywhere below cotton prices.
