Objective To perform a diverse range of procurement support regard to the implementation of elements in the GMS Operational Chain mainly MSF, VTPMTPF and their subsystems. Responsibilities Duties Generic Support Tasks Assistance in preparation of invitation to tenders related to ESA Projects and RD activities and contracts technical followup Specific engineering support to space projects developed by ESA andor by major European industriesoperators Validation of designs by means of analyses, simulations, laboratory testing and field trials possibly in cooperation with third parties Design, implementation and testing tasks for technological projects Execution of internal RD activities through design, prototyping, analysis and simulations Simulation and testing in laboratory of Navigation systems and equipment Preparation of technical documents on above subjects Support to related demonstrations inside and outside ESTEC The work concerning laboratory activities will be performed based on the existing Radio Navigation facilities available at ESTEC The duties of this post will include in particular Supporting and followup the procurements actions and industry contracts with regard to the implementation of elements in the GMS Operational Chain mainly MSF, VTPMTPF, their subsystems and any other relevant facility and relevant deltadevelopment and modifications. Evaluation of contractors GMS element designs as part of the GMS Operational Chain in the areas of monitoring control of Galileo assets, archiving, realtime and offline mission monitoring, mission uplink and control, mission support, training and maintenance, identification of design deficiencies and identification of required solutions. Contribution to all GMS and System reviews and meetings for all topics related to GMS Operational Chain activities. Contribution to the GMS overall Engineering activities Requirements Engineering, Change Management and Baseline evolutions DCPDCNs, assessments of RFDRFWs, HWSW COTS, AIV support etc.. Supporting the assessment of the overall GMS operability and integrated logistic support ILS aspects of the GMS functions including the verification of the related operational procedures and the support to Operations related to operability and ILS aspects. Supporting the Integration, Verification and Qualification IVQ activities in the area of the Operability Chain Facilities ensuring followup and monitoring of Industry IVQ activities and participation to formal verification activities, eg. Credit Collection at element and segment level in the area of the Operational Chain. Support the definition of the definition and preparation of test cases. Qualifications Experience MSc or equivalent in Telecommunications, Electrical Engineering, Physics or Aerospace Engineering Background and experience on GNSS navigation performance and spacecraft system engineering Experience in project management and industrial procurement Specific knowledge in the design and testing of Radio Navigation systems and equipment They shall have strong knowledge on the design of satellite navigation systems, ranging and positioning techniques, RF, signal processing techniques, and digital navigation receivers The specialist shall in particular have several years of experience relevant with the GNSS1and GALILEO systems and equipment and have and good knowledge of Radio Navigation simulation and testing systems They shall be specialist in the implementation, maintenance and operation of complex Radio Navigation simulation and test facilities for spacecraft, aircraft, maritime and land mobile applications Further Details All roles within Telespazio VEGA have a defined closing date, however if a successful candidate is found before the advert expires the role will be closed early. The general task of the Key Person will be to support the INR aspects within the developing activities of the EPSSG Programme. Primarily the activities have the objective to establish and maintain the knowledge needed to support the INR processing as part of the mission data processing functionality both for online and offline functions. In addition, the Key Person will support and contribute to the review and refinement of the INR architecture at EPSSG System level. In particular the tasks may include Help to develop the INR processing functionality for the mission data processing of all EPSSG instrument missions, throughout the procurement lifecycle, Acquire detailed knowledge on the EPSSG System INR architecture including dependencies and interactions between the platform and the instruments as well as between the instruments hosted on the same platform. Develop, maintain, and procure a INR related test tools and software including INR reference processor software and b INR related test datasets that are necessary for the testing and verification of the EPSSG requirements baseline. Ensure a proper knowledge transfer of all INR aspects from industry to CUSTOMER is implemented in order to ensure longterm maintainability of the preoperational or operational software Define, develop and maintain INR related processing functionality requirements and specifications. Monitor the evolution of the requirements and the applicability of their versions to developed or procured items Prepare documents to support tender actions in the area of INR data processing, and, potentially, evaluate responses to them Support studies and Instrument Functional Chain Team IFCT activities in the area of INR and geometrical processing.
