UltravioletVisibleNearInfrared UVN Product Engineer Key Tasks and Responsibilities As part of the Remote Sensing and Products Division, you will be involved in providing support to cover the development of calibration algorithms for the UVN mission on Meteosat Third Generation MTG. Skills Experience You will have the following qualifications and relevant experience University degree in a relevant discipline Solid experience in the field in remote sensing product data processing and analysis including as well as some experience in UVVisibleNIR calibration and validation Solid background in software engineering Familiarity with satellite instrument characteristics for Earth observation, in particular calibration and validation of moderate spectral resolution data in the UVVisibleNIR part of the spectrum Ability to write concise and comprehensive scientific and technical reports Experience in the specification, design and coding of complex product processors Experience in testing and verification of complex data processing systems Familiarity with handling and processing of remote sensing data Experience in atmospheric remote sensing in the optical spectrum Ultraviolet to Near Infrared Experience with instrument calibration and characterization Familiarity with Earth observation systems in operational meteorology, atmospheric composition and climate monitoring both remote sensing and in situ systems Fluency in English is mandatory knowledge of another European language is an advantage. Main responsibilities You will provide support to the ongoing processor development activities in preparation for the future UVN instrument to be flown on MTGS and will support the Atmospheric Composition Team in the Remote Sensing and Products RSP Division of EUMETSAT, located in Darmstadt, Germany. You will be fully integrated in the Atmospheric Composition Team and will interface with inhouse experts of various disciplines system, instruments, operations, science, and in particular members of the MTG Science and Instrument Teams. The tasks will evolve as the MTG UVN specifications mature and activities evolve in the coming years. Ideal candidate Requirements Essentials In addition to having a University degree or equivalent in a relevant discipline, you should have at least 5 years of experience in the field of remote sensing product data processing and analysis including at least 2 years of experience of UV Visible NIR calibration and validation. Further you should bring a solid background in software engineering. Specifically you should fulfil at least a significant subset of the following criteria Very good skills in a higher programming language e.g. Fortran, C Working with UNIX and or Linux operating systems Specification, design and coding of complex product processors Testing and verification of complex data processing systems Handling and processing of remote sensing data Experience in atmospheric remote sensing in the optical spectrum Ultraviolet to Near Infrared Experience with instrument calibration and characterisation Familiarity with Earth observation systems in operational meteorology, atmospheric composition and climate monitoring both remote sensing and in situ systems Writing concise and comprehensive scientific and technical reports. The official languages of EUMETSAT are English and French. The working language for the position is English and therefore you must be able to work effectively in this language and have knowledge of the other.
