Preferred Qualifications Thorough understanding of key VSAT and HTS platform technologies including Comtech HEIGHTS, iDirect Evolution and Velocity, Gilat SkyEdge and others, and how they interface with IP networks. Thorough understanding of the challenges in delivering IP services over VSAT in maritime and aero mobility environments, including understanding of mobile antenna systems and beamswitching methodologies. Understanding of and experience dealing with FAPVolumebased billing systems. Strong understanding of earth station design and engineering techniques as related to GEO and MEO satellite operations. Knowledge of standard earth station equipment, such as antennas systems, HPAs, frequency converters and baseband equipment. Thanks to their relevant experience in the field, they will play a crucial role in supporting operations preparation for the German mission Heinrich Hertz H2SAT. The candidate will contribute to the project lifecycle with system level responsibility and eventually be a core member of the mission operations team for H2SAT, reporting directly to the mission operations manager. Your role The successful candidate will initially work either from home, or in our Bochum or Darmstadt office. Later in the project the operations for the telecommunication mission will be run from a control center in Bonn, Germany. from appr. mid of 2022 on, and the candidate would be expected to relocate nearby. Here all mission phases preparation, launch, LEOP and Routine shall be supported. For this position, the following tasks are currently envisaged Assist the Operations Manager as deputy for the preparation of H2Sat operations Act as technical lead for operations preparation in continuous coordination with the mission operations manager Review, refine and complement relevant documentation generated during preceding phases Contribute to the preparation of all the operational products required to conduct the mission, in particular the Flight Operations Procedures Participate in technical meetings, formal reviews, and scheduling and planning meetings Interface with the OHB operations group for spacecraft operations matters, and the CGI developers for the Pleniter system matters Assess and prepare relevant test procedures for the validation of procedures and operations during the tests between the control center and the satellite in the manufacturers premises SVTs. Assist in the acceptance testing and validation of all the main ground segment systems being developed to support satellite operations Prepare training material and provide training to other members of the operations team Your Qualifications The successful candidate will have A university degree in aerospace, mathematics, physics or equivalent A demonstrated and consolidated experience with more than 7 years in the field of spacecraft operations, preferably on GEO satellites Fluency in English. Knowledge of German would be an advantage . Candidates should be able to work as part of an interdisciplinary team, with a high level of selfmotivation. They should be proactive and able to work autonomously. Further, the candidate must have a valid German work and residence permit or be an EU Citizen. Candidates must be eligible to obtain security clearance by the German Bundeswehr andor the German BMWi.
