You will work on general and detailed design activities for equipment, tanks, structures, lines, harness, brackets, etc., taking all design and manufacturing requirements and processes into account, and working in cooperation with mechanical, thermal, functional and electrical engineering. You will perform 3D design using Catia V5VPM, taking the following points into consideration Functional requirements diameter, pressure, temperature, max. pressure drop Movement of the line interfaces temperature, pressure, loads and tolerances Mechanical requirements frequency and stress Constraints from fluid control equipment Integration sequence and accessibility Manufacturing and integration costs rough estimates Your responsibilities will include Designing and layout starting with initial sketches and feasibility studies, up to the establishment of specifications for subsystems Interface management internalexternal between upper and lower stages, as well as structures and equipment Defining envelopes, interfaces and geometrical tolerances for all subsystems in the interface specifications Leading negotiations as regards designtocost and industrialisation aspects with subcontractors Taking over the responsibility for writing documents in English, e.g. design justification files or design or procurement specifications We are looking for candidates with the following skills University degree in mechanical or electrical engineering, aerospace, informatics or equivalent Experience in technical analysis of aerospace systems as well as the preparation of logic of developments Several years of experience in designing and the analysis of aerospace components or equivalent complex systems of the aerospace technics Routine in dealing with development tools SW and HW Good understanding of the theoretical description of technical engineering problems Several years of experience in team management First experience in project management Profound experience in using 3D CAD tool Catia V5 or similar and data management systems VPM, Primes or similar Working in teams, potential to buildup and lead a team, experienced with national and international subcontractors and the ability to carry out technical negotiations Fluent negotiation level of German and English, French would be desirable If you are interested in this position, please apply online via www.jobs.eads.com. JOB DESCRIPTION Responsibilities Duties Tasks The ideal consultant is a software engineer with a minimum of 3 years experience in testing complex software systems on UNIX platform, preferably Linux. He or she shall be able to support ESOs team in any manual testing as well as implementation of fully automated tests. Testers are also expected to write documentation on test tools and environment as well as test case descriptions and test reports. The consultant must be familiar with software development and test methodologies and standard software engineering practices and have an excellent know ledge of scripting languages UNI X shell, Perl and software build tools. JOB DESCRIPTION Senior Software Engineer The Pipeline Systems Department in the Directorate of Engineering DoE is developing the VLT and VLTI data reduction pipelines for the operational instruments at La Silla Paranal observatory. The data reduction pipelines are used in two operational environments, by the ESO Data Flow Operations at Garching, and by the Paranal Science Operations PSO, for the quicklook assessment of data, the healthmonitoring of instruments and detectors, the generation of master calibration data, the reduction of scientific exposures, and data quality control. The work involves the preparation of data reduction procedures for the ESO VLT pipelines, and the implementation of these parts in ANSIC with the ESOCPL library for information, see www.eso.orgcpl and www.eso.orgpipelines. Responsibilities Duties Tasks The ideal consultant is a software engineer with minimum 3 years experience in developing astronomical data reduction applications in ANSIC he or she shall be able to participate in any of the maintenance and development efforts in support of ESOs team, contributing to the entire software lifecycle, from analysis to design, coding, documentation and testing, to deployment and maintenance. The consultant will be given responsibility over data reduction pipelines and interact with the instrument scientists at the operational sites for the specification of data reduction procedures in collaboration with ESOs team and the head of department, he or she shall be able to operate independently and meet the agreed deadlines. Qualifications University degree in Computer Science, Physics, Electrical Engineering or equivalent. Required knowledge The consultant is required to have a good knowledge of image and signal processing methods in astronomy, as well as statistical handling of scientific data knowledge of observational techniques in astrophysics imaging, adaptive optics, spectroscopy and the related data reduction methods will be an asset. The consultant person is required to be familiar with modern software engineering practices and tools, including SVN, and unit testing. He or she is required to have excellent command of the English language, very good oral and written communication skills, team spirit and flexibility customer orientation, familiarity with international organizations, and a strong sense for quality development are also essential.
