For the location in Darmstadt, Germany we are looking for a Data Processing Monitoring and Supporting Applications Engineer at EUMETSAT. Tasks The successful Candidate shall support the Sentinel3 Operations with respect to EUMETSATs Marine Payload Data Ground Segment PDGS maintenance in particular anomaly correction and software release process and necessary evolution, including the necessary coordination of the data processing systems engineering for the related interfaces with the rest of the Sentinel3 ground segment. The Key Persons duties will include a range of tasks, from preparing and providing the support of the day to day operation and maintenance currently in the preparation phase, the analysis, and testing of the facilities which also includes the handling of anomalies, design of upgrades and configuration changes for these facilities. The Engineer will be the focal point when it comes to integrating the individual SW Facilities into a data processing system, covering all aspects of system integration and testing, including endtoend testing of the production system. Tasks will also contain the settingup and implementation of maintenance policies and procedures as well as the coordination with external providers of maintenance services. This may also entail the participation in the specification and development of specific monitoring tools for S3. In support to operations, the Key Person may also be required to provide on call support as part of a team of maintenance engineers, especially for the S3 commissioning and initial operations phases. Essential requirements Relevant experience in maintaining and engineering of evolutions of large scale software systems missioninstrument data processing related Experience in software development lifecycles Software debugging and profiling tools e.g. GDB, DBX, IBM Purify, Valgrind Source code control systems, preferably Subversion and CVS Competence in SW testing, unit test suite maintenance, automated testing, verification and validation Experience with the programming and usage of IDLIENVI Experience in the use of Python languages and its main scientific libraries numpy, matplotlib Knowledge of Web technologies especially using Python Web framework e.g. Django Use of and application programming of relational database systems in particular ORACLE, INFORMIX, PostgreSQL and MySQL CCJava programming language experience in a UNIXLinux based environment Knowledge of Scripting languages Python, Perl, TclTk, shell Knowledge of web technologies, programming and markup languages e.g. Apache, CGI, JavaScript, XML and related technologies XPATH, SVG, etc. Other Information Start date is foreseen to be April 2015 Fluency in English is mandatory Candidates must be an EU Citizen or have valid working permit to work in Germany.
