This post is classified in the A2A4 grade band of the Coordinated Organisations salary scale. LOCATION ESAC, Villanueva de la Caada, Madrid Spain. DUTIES Within the Operations Department, the Science Archives and Computer Engineering Unit has responsibility for archiving, providing access to and enabling science exploitation for all ESA space science missions Astronomy, Planetary and Solar Heliophysics. The Solar Heliophysics Archives Science Lead will be responsible for the scientific overview of ESAs Solar Heliophysics Science Archives. The incumbent will report to the Head of the Science Archives and Computer Engineering Unit SCIOE. This post has two major responsibilities Solar Heliophysics Archives Science Lead and Instrument Support Scientist. Responsibilities as Solar Heliophysics Archives Science Lead will include participating in the definition and implementation of the overall strategy relating to the Department archives and science guidelines for longterm preservation and science data exploitation overall scientific coordination with solar heliophysics missions Science Operations Centres SOC and Project Scientists for all aspects related to their missions science archive ensuring along with the archive technical lead that development priorities and plans based on resources are available balancing missionspecific versus general purpose requirements and constraints, in collaboration with all archive stakeholders encouraging and running multimission science exploitation services and activities from the solar heliophysics archives performing science data exploitation research and publishing scientific articles using solar heliophysics archival data representing ESA at scientific conferences and workshops, solar heliophysics science user groups and international alliances. Responsibilities as Instrument Support Scientist will include providing scientific input and guidance on the development and execution of science operations for solar heliophysics missions. In addition to carrying out these responsibilities, the postholder is expected to perform scientific research. QUALIFICATIONS Applicants for this post should have a Ph.D. or equivalent degree in physics, space science or preferably Solar System science. Extensive experience in the field of solar heliophysics missions, preferably in the context of operating ESA missions, is desirable. A track record of solar heliophysics data exploitation with associated science publications is required. Candidates must be able to develop a strategic vision for the scientific exploitation of ESAs solar heliophysics archives, and be able to persuade the community to use the archives as a treasury science resource. They must also mobilise internal mainly technical resources with a view to implementing this vision. Applicants should have strong analytical, interpersonal and relationship management skills with the ability to work effectively in a team. Strong communication skills are required to represent ESA at international conferences, workshops and as member of international data alliances. For behavioural competencies expected from ESA staff, please refer to the ESA Competency Framework. The working languages of the Agency are English and French. A good knowledge of one of these languages is required. Knowledge of another Member State language would be an asset. Knowledge of another member state language is an asset. Chicago School Board Elevates Computer Science to Graduation Requirement

The Chicago Board of Education on Wednesday voted unanimously to make computer science a graduation requirement for all high school students beginning with next year's freshmen. Chicago Public Schools has become a national leader in computer science education since Mayor Rahm Emanuel launched the Computer Science for All initiative for grades K-12 in 2013, the board said.

Ridgeview Classical Charter Schools win Colorado Science Bowl.

Students from Ridgeview Classical Charter Schools will represent Colorado at U.S. DOE's National Science Bowl in Washington DC, April 28–May 2, where they will compete against more than 400 students from 70 high schools for national title. Forty-five teams from across the state competed in competition at Dakota Ridge High School in Littleton. In final round, Ridgeview Classical Charter Schools from Fort Collins, won by score of 64 to 38, prevailing over Fairview High School from Boulder.
