MultiMission Systems Upgrade Project Manager

We are upgrading our Ground Systems and Infrastructure to enable new satellite missions and to support future technology. Do you have the ability to manage multiple, complex I.T. and engineering projects to help us achieve this goal? EUMETSAT is the European satellite agency for monitoring weather and climate. Bringing together the resources of 30 Member States, we develop and operate a range of satellite systems surveying the atmosphere, ocean and climate that deliver data 24 hours a day. Our data is vital to weather forecasts that protect lives and property and to monitoring the changing climate. EUMETSAT is now developing the next generation of satellite systems, shaping its longterm future. We have a role for a Project Manager, working within the MultiMission Elements MME Upgrade Team, to ensure that our generic systems and infrastructure and specifically the MME the set of software, facilities, tools, IT infrastructure covering Data Archive and Retrieval, Distribution functions as well as Ground systems Monitoring and Infrastructure and IT functions support all current EUMETSAT operational satellite ground systems and are upgraded to support the new programmes under development. The role involves managing multiple complex upgrade projects concurrently to help us achieve multimission system capability. Your main responsibilities will include managing the upgrade projects of the MMEs with focus on network and computer infrastructure, from the architectural design phase until the handover to customer or end User including organisation of relevant reviews. You will manage the interactions with programmes in development and with the engineering teams in charge of MMEs maintenance and evolution. Contributing to the generation and maintenance of the MME services catalogue and related Service Level Agreement SLA with programmes in development, you will generate and maintain Development and Management Plans, Project Plans and schedules. You will advise on the implementation of change control and baseline management processes. You may also be involved in initiating, managing and monitoring of external procurements and contracts. Along with a university degree or equivalent in a relevant discipline i.e. Computer Sciences, IT or Network Engineering you will have proven skillsexperience in the following project management of ground segment elements development, preferably in the field of IT infrastructure and Network within a multiple project environment solid technical background in ground segment communicationsnetworks WAN, LAN and security related aspects solid technical background in IT services system engineering lifecycle aspects e.g. design, production, integration, verification and validation of ground segment elements analysis, synthesis and presentation of data, coupled with good interpersonal skills and an ability to apply these to interactions within and between teams. Experience of managing the whole software development lifecycle specification, design, development, integration, testing, delivery and maintenance Experience of managing concurrent projects and using different methodologies or price types e.g. waterfall vs agile, firm fix price vs time materials The ability to facilitate and improve process improvement through leadership and ownership. Team player and team leader The following would be an advantage Experience of interfacing with prime and subcontractors Experience of managing contracts with customers or partners in Europe A recognised Project Management Qualification Exposure to contractual issues e.g. review of contracts, contract change Understanding of software licenses and Intellectual Property Rights Understanding of the space industry and associated technologies may be an advantage but is not a prerequisite for the role.
