ROLE DESCRIPTION SUMMARY 6month internship, starting at earliest convenience This is an exciting opportunity to become part of the Customer Service Delivery CSD team in a fastpaced, global organization within an innovative and unique industry. Based in Luxembourg Betzdorf, you will be involved in developing a graphical interface, representation and configuration tool for our Carrier System Monitoring CSM which will allow us to graphically configure our remote monitoring systems and generate the database configuration file for input to our SQL database. This should also be able to read the database and give a graphical interpretation of the database configuration. YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES Generate outline requirements and specifications for the database graphical interface tools Specify the software packages required Present solutionpresentation and create a beta version for evaluation Demonstrate full system to management for final approval on development Communicate regularly with technical and operational staff on the concepts and progress Commission and install new application andor customize COTS applications to make them compatible with the database graphical user interface requirements Create an offline demonstration of the full functionality of the tools created TD environment Create full detailed documentation of the functionality of the system and fully comment any coding Write user documentation, procedures and definitions YOUR PROFILE Current and advanced student in Computer Science Bachelors or Masters degree Excellent analytical and judgment skills, experience with database systems Ability to set priorities and to work under tight deadlines Computer literacy MS office suit, MS SQL, PHP, HTML, AJAX, SOAP, Visio Ability to work independently as well as in a team Ease with communication at all levels Fluency in spoken and written English with additional languages considered an asset EU nationality or work permit for Luxembourg. Main Responsibilities The right candidate will focus on the following tasks Perform and coordinate effective installation of databasesinstances and properly configure hardware and software parameters on servers. Administer databases, install new software releases, system upgrades, evaluate and install patches and resolve software related problems. Perform database reorganizations as required to assist performance and ensure maximum uptime of the database. Evaluate releases of Oracle, its tools, and thirdparty products to ensure that the hosted customer Web site is running the products that are most appropriate.. Provide performance monitoring during all phases of the application development lifecycle and maintain the database efficiency during application operations. Evaluate the adequacy of system hardware and software to meet present and future needs and provides trend analysis to the team. Work with team to automate management tasks, streamline processes and perform standard administration functions as needed. Evaluate access permissions and privileges. Implement and enforce security. Plan, develop, manage and test DB backups and recovery plans. Provide complete and thorough documentation. Plan and perform appropriate procedures, documentation, inventory assessment, and other procedures related to the RDBMS. Provide reports and performance analysis of vital system parameters. Report status and flags issues to Service Manager and to Customer representative. The Ideal Candidate The ideal candidate will bring University degree in one of the following fields Computer Science, Information Technologies, Mathematics, Physics, Engineering or related areas. At least eight 8 years of work experience, in the field of duties, of which at least six 6 years proven Oracle database administration experience, five 5 years proven experience of managing multiple RDBMS on large systems, monitoring and tuning databases to provide a high availability service four 4 years of experience of SQL scripting, stored procedures,triggers, cursors and views, five 5 years experience ofother database systems, preferably Microsoft SQL Server at least six 6 years of experience in managing and optimizing Data Warehouse environments. Solid experience matured on Datacenter environments on storage and data management products, preferably NetApp based SANNAS technologies. Strong experience in setting up Databases in Virtual environments both on Physical and Cloud Platforms. Technical skills Extensive knowledge of Oracle RDMS and related management tools. Extensive knowledge of Oracle RAC Extensive knowledge of multiple RDBMS OracleMysqlPostgres installationadministration and tuning. Extensive knowledge of DB administration in DataWarehouse environments. Knowledge of Microsoft Office 365 platform, and Windows Active Directory. Knowledge of SQL scripting, stored procedures, triggers, cursors and views. Good understanding of ITIL practices and knowledge of the COBIT framework. knowledge of High Availability installationadministration and tuning Certifications in the relevant technologies are a strong asset. Personal Skill Excellent written and oral command of English. Knowledge of Italian is not mandatory but would be an asset. Capability of integration in an internationalmulticultural environment, rapid selfstarting capability and experience in team working are mandatory. Capacity of achieving schedule and milestones.
