Moreover, we actively manage your professional development, training and career progression. For the location in Darmstadt, Germany we are looking for a Application Data System Engineer at ESOC. Tasks The Contractor shall be involved with the specification, implementation, testing and acceptance of ground systems for different ESA ProgrammesProjects. The following main tasks are involved Specification of the requirements of these systems in collaboration with all stakeholders Specification of their internal and external interfaces in agreement with the relevant parties Support to System Reviews Acceptance of the deliverables received from industry, ensuring correctness, completeness and compliance to the applicable requirements Support to the end users as required in the various ProjectProgramme phases Coordination with other HSOG internal or external units, e.g. with the units supplying mission data systems infrastructure and with the units supplying the necessary hardware, networks and related services Participation in research and development activities in the area of ground systems engineering. At the moment it is envisaged that the Contractor will Support to the HSOGDA team in in the technical execution of the relevant systems development contracts. This includes the deployment, validation and acceptance of the procured Systems. Initially support and finally act as the Ground System Manager DSM of the entrusted projects. Support the HSOGDA staff in the execution of technical projects in the domain of Ground Systems, in particular in the areas of RT activities and technical developments. It is to be noted that the above list is NOT exhaustive. The Contractors shall work as an integrant member of the HSOGDA team and be prepared to support the section in all activities where this is required. RHEA is currently recruiting an Earth Observation Application Support Engineer to support the Head of the ESA Climate Office at our clients premises in Harwell. Tasks and Activities Your primary tasks and activities may include Leading the management of activities related to climate datainformation quality assurance in relation to the climate data products, standards, algorithm validation and long term preservation. Defining CCI Data Access needs, both FCDRs and ECVs, in terms of Services Coordinated Interface, CoreInfrastructure, Analysis and Reporting, and Quality Control. Analysing, defining, initiating and managing industrial activities, associated to the Distribution of the Earth Observation data from the GMECV programme and the Climate Scientific User Community. Acquiring, archiving, documenting and making available in CMIP5 CCI products. This includes maintaining both the standards and protocols, filenaming conventions, data formats etc already agreed between the CCI teams and the development of CFsatellite conventions. Defining and developing the CCI Data Portal, a dedicated web portal setup to provide a single point of access for all CCI data products. Defining and developing the CCI Tool Box, incorporating generic functions applicable to all ECV data products will be implemented, in order to simplify analysis of multiple ECVs in parallel. Supporting development of climate services, especially international and intergovernmental public sector markets, including climate data visualisation. Skills and Experience You must possess the following skills and experience University degree or equivalent qualification in physics, engineering or a relevant Earth sciences discipline. At least 4 years of professional experience on product definition, archiving and distribution, algorithm development, quality assessment and exploitation of Earth Observation data, particularly ESA missions. Established profile of dialoguing the with EO research communities in disciplines relevant for climate. Strongly selfmotivated, resultsoriented, possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills, and be able to work effectively within ESA teams and in international cooperation. Good knowledge of one of these two languages is required. Knowledge of another member state language is an asset.
