For our activities in ESOC, we are currently looking for an Application Data System Engineer. Tasks and Responsibilities The Key Person shall be involved mainly with the specification, inhouse implementation, testing and acceptance of ground systems for prototype applications and proof of concepts of advanced ground data applications. The following main tasks are involved Specification of the requirements of these systems in collaboration with all stakeholders Specification of their internal and external interfaces in agreement with the relevant parties Inhouse implementation of the applications Support to the end users as required in the various ProjectProgramme phases Coordination with other HSOG internal or external units, e.g. with the units supplying mission data systems infrastructure and with the units supplying the necessary hardware, networks and related services Participation in research and development activities in the area of ground systems engineering. Support the HSOGDA team in prototyping advanced ground data systems and standards in the Advanced Ground Software Application Lab Support the HSOGDA staff in the execution of technical projects in the domain of Ground Systems, in particular in the areas of RT activities and technical developments. Requirements The Key Person shall bring the following knowledge and experience Familiarity with CCSDS MO standards would be an asset Familiarity with computer graphics, 3D visualisation and gaming techniques would be an asset, Embedded software development skills would be an asset Development, deployment and validation of software on System on Chip Familiarity with the SIMSAT and SMP2 simulation model development would be an asset Knowledge of Secure software engineering practices would be an asset Knowledge and experience in the ESOC software engineering methodology and relevant standards Knowledge of JAVA, C and XML one or more modern computer languages, depending on the requirements of the work Familiarity with relevant operating systems, including LINUX Experience in the domain of Service Oriented Architectures would be an asset Knowledge of Agile Software Development based on Scrum Methodology. LSE Space is looking for an experienced Engineer mf in order to fulfill the duty of Data Processing Systems and Application Engineer for our customer EUMETSAT in DarmstadtGermany. The primary responsibilities of this role will be The consultant will provide engineering support to the EPSSG Ground Segment Data processing team in the frame of the EPSSG Preparatory Programme Phase B as well as to the Operations department in the frame of maintenance and evolution of the EPS data processing systems. The Consultant will support activities related to initially Phase B followed by phases CD of the EPSSG Programme in the area of data processing engineering. In this context attention is drawn to the mandatory nature of the programme. In the detail, support will be provided for the following tasks In Phase B Requirements engineering in DOORS for EPSSG data processing requirements. This includes review, specification and refinement of existing requirements, their uptraces to parent Ground Segment specifications, justifications and verification methods Ensure coherency of requirements with algorithms specifications Definition of ICDs between data processing elements and other GS functions Definition of Testing and Operational scenarios for data processing elements Definition of data processing concepts and tradeoffs to support requirements understanding and justification. In Phase CD Support the procurement of data processing elements by advising on technical solutions proposed by the contractor and by reviewing documentation to confirm its compliance with the requirements Support management of the requirements baseline for data processing elements Support refinement of ICDs Support testing, integration and acceptance of data processing elements. Review of documentation dealing with technical evolutions of the EUMETSAT infrastructure Requirements Relevant experience in preparation of requirements, design, interfaces and testing documentation for data processing systems for Earth Observation missions experience on data processing for high data rates missions will be considered an asset. Relevant experience with L1L2 processing software for Earth Observation missions, either for operationsmaintenance or specification and development. Knowledge of the requirements engineering process, including relation between requirements, ICDs, design and testing documentation. Ability to learn and develop the needed skills and knowledge to contribute to the development of EPSSG. This includes the ability to rapidly absorb, and make use of, information presented in written and oral communications in a dynamic context. Willingness to work within a multidisciplinary context in cooperation with other teams. The ability to maintain a system overview is essential. They shall have a systematic approach to work, be able to plan their work and to cope with tight schedules and multiple tasks. They shall have the capability to write accurate and consistent technical documentation. Academic and work related requirements A University degree in an engineering discipline is required.
