We require staff, wishing to join our team to work in a dynamic international environment for the following position Software Product Assurance Support Engineer ENGSERVPASW20140103 Tasks and Responsibilities The Software Product Assurance Support Engineer will support the ESA PA Safety Manager for designated projects in conducting, monitoring assessing the implementation of the PA Safety Programme. The work will be performed at the European Space Research and Technology Centre ESTEC in Noordwijk, The Netherlands. The position will include the following tasks and responsibilities Contribute the establishing of the programmatic and technical software PA requirements within the framework of the ESA Software policy. Evaluate Contractors plans, technical specifications and efforts proposed for the execution of SW PA programme. Monitor and evaluate SW PA analyses, reports and technical notes. Participation to project reviews, meetings, Configuration Control Boards, Nonconformance Review Boards and Software Review Boards. Prepare design trade offs, analyses and reports using metrics to support project decisions. Participate to software product evaluations and process assessments. Establish and maintain databases to track NCRs, RFWs, action items etc. as required. Qualifications and Experience Applicants should have a Masters degree in software engineering or computer science with background on space engineering, 10 years of relevant professional work experience, familiarity with space product assurance practices together with a good working knowledge of appropriate working tools, practical experience in applying ECSS SW standards. Furthermore, candidates are required to have following skills Configuration management of complex systems. Software engineering and PA in critical applications. Ability to cope with pressure. Fluent in English. High level of flexibility. Good organization skills, good communication skills. The Challenge We are looking for experienced and pragmatic product assurance engineer with strong background in spacecraft hardware and subcontractor monitoring. Because of the potential risk to life inherent in manned missions, we expect the product assurance consultant to exercise a strong influence over programme decisions. Typical tasks include Monitor subcontractor compliance with product assurance requirements. Critically review of specifications and subcontractor delivered documents. Represent product assurance interests at design reviews and progress meetings. Perform analyses at various levels of integration, e.g., for failure mode effect and criticality reliability availability maintainability safety, failure detection, isolation and recovery parts derating. Perform inspection of incoming equipment. Contribute to delivery acceptance reviews. Develop and implement parts procurement and storage strategies. Perform regular and extraordinary quality audits.
