Satellite Launcher Interface Engineer

RHEA is currently recruiting a Satellite Launcher Interface Engineer to work on launch services definition, procurement and launch preparatory activities at our clients premises in Darmstadt, Germany. Tasks and Activities The scope of work will include interacting with the launch service providers and satellites teams for the development and qualification of the satellites against the launcher requirements. Activities will also include selection of the baseline launch services via launch feasibility studies, consultation with different launch providers, and finalisation of the launch services agreement. Duties for the launch services procurement phase will include Perform specific analyses, tradeoffs and studies to support the identification of potential launch services for the clients missions Support the preparation and the execution of launch feasibility and compatibility studies, liaising with the launch services provider and industry Support the definition and the consolidation of satellite to launcher interface requirements, launch services procurement documentation and review and assessment of proposals from the selected providers Duties for the launch services mission preparation phase will include Review and assess space segment documentation in relation with launcher interface e.g.mission analysis, environment specifications, environmental test plans and specifications, launch campaign operations plans and procedures, etc. to verify compliance and compatibility with the selected launch services Regularly update and maintain under configuration the satellite to launcher interface requirements taking into account the outcomes of the iterations with the launch service providers, the mission analysis studies and the outcomes of the main reviews PMAR, FMAR, etc. Support the definition, the review and the update of the Satellite to Launcher Interface Control Document issued by the launch services provider Support the coordination with the clients LEOP manager in relation to the launch technical requirements Coordinate with the satellite operator flight dynamics team to define the requirements for satellite injection Duties for the launch campaign preparation phase will include Support the logistical preparation of the launch campaign set up of the requirements for customer offices, coordination of the shipments of necessary hardware, travel plans, etc. Support the definition and coordination of the launch campaign master plans and procedure schedule, operation plans, master procedures, countdown procedure allocation of personnel, etc. Coordinate with the clients LEOP manager and with the system team manager launch service related activities and provide status of launch campaign preparation Other duties may include Act when needed as Launch Interface Manager, being the formal point of contact with the launch services provider Monitor and maintain a weekly record of Launch events Prepare and maintain an updated dossier of existing Launch Services, identifying potential compatibility with the clients satellites Provide weekly reporting on activities performed in support to the different clients programs. Skills and Experience The following skills and experience are mandatory University degree in Aerospace Engineering or equivalent qualification Minimum 3 years of experience in Space Launcher Systems and related aspects Very good knowledge of launch related topics such as Trajectories and Launch Mission Analysis, Flight Dynamics, EMC, Vibrations, Propulsion, Satellite Launch Campaign activities and tests Experience in implementing Quality and Management processes Fluent in English both oral written. The following skills would be highly desirable Experience in the implementation of a launch service and preparation execution of launch campaigns would be an asset Proficiency in French will be considered an advantage. This position is a part of Advanced Technology group, a research organization focusing on research in key areas of aerospace industry such as Air Traffic Management Communication, Navigation, Surveillance Control Systems Embedded Systems Crew Interface and Avionics. Responsibilities will include most of the following Technical contribution to international collaborative projects in the area of GNSS Contribution to the architecture development of a multiconstellation multifrequency GNSS receiver Design and verification of algorithms for satellite navigation systems Development, validation, and implementation of different GNSS receiver integrity monitoring concepts Work with other Satellite Navigation team members to support implementation, debugging, and verification of the algorithms on the target platform Requirements Masters or Doctorate Degree in Electrical Engineering with emphasis on satellite navigation or radio communications other engineering degrees such as Computer Science are acceptable provided the candidate has a relevant background. Fluent English Experience with ONE OR MORE areas Proven academic or professional experience with the satellite navigation receiver technology Basic knowledge of the concepts for maintaining the system integrity in satellite navigation Experience with digital signal processing algorithm development Experience with RealTime Operating Systems RTOS for real time embedded processing applications is a plus Experience with MatlabSimulink
