Numericable-SFR loses more customers, ARPU improves

(Telecompaper) Numericable-SFR reported an improvement in its underlying sales trend in Q2, helped by its focus on quad-play offers. The year-on-year fall in revenues slowed to 2.4 percent, for a total EUR 2.781 billion, compared to a drop of 4.6 percent in the first quarter. In the consumer market, revenues fell 1.5 percent for fixed services and mobile dropped by 2.9 percent. Business revenues declined 3.9 percent. Adjusted EBITDA still improved 19 percent to EUR 1.056 billion, driven by the synergies from merging Numericable and SFR. The adjusted EBITDA margin jumped 7.2 percent points year-on-year to 38.4 percent, putting the company on track for ts medium-term goal of 45 percent. The company also grew operating cash flow 49 percent to EUR 647 million, as capital expenditure fell 10 percent to EUR 409 million.

Verizon will ask customers to test its new mobile-TV service

Verizon Communications Inc. will ask thousands of customers in the coming weeks to test out a new mobile-TV service, Go90, originally slated for introduction in June, though now pushed back to late summer. Go90 - named for the act of rotating your mobile device's screen 90-degrees sideways for video viewing - will debut within the next eight weeks and feature live TV, short clips and video-on-demand and original programming.

Last month the company reported a smaller-than-expected quarterly loss and raised its full-year revenue outlook on strong corporate demand for its cloud data storage products.

EE adds 1.5 million 4G customers in Q2

(Telecompaper) UK operator EE said it added 1.5 million net 4G customers in Q2 to reach a total 10.9 million at the end of June, up by 6.7 million year-on-year. It is on track to reach 14 million 4G customers by year-end. The 4G network reaches 90 percent of the population, covering over 600 major towns and cities. EE also registered Q2 post-paid net additions of 178,000 (including M2M) to help reach a total of 30.9 million mobile connections, up from 30.8 million in Q2 2014. Post-paid customers account for 62 percent of the total mobile customer base. The pre-paid customer base fell by 184,000 year-on-year. Turnover for the first half of 2015 was GBP 3.12 billion, up 0.1 percent year-on-year. Operating revenue fell 0.5 percent to GBP 2.98 billion. Adjusted EBITDA was still up 9.2 percent to GBP 830 million. Home broadband growth, driven by EE TV, continued to outpace the market, the company said. In Q2, EE added 35,000 net fixed broadband customers, and fixed-line revenue rpse 18 percent year-on-year. The MVNO base reached 3.7 million, up 1.3 percent year-on-year.
