000 ABNT20 KNHC 142318 TWOAT Tropical Weather Outlook NWS National Hurricane Center Miami FL 800 PM EDT Sat Oct 14 2017 For the North Atlantic...Caribbean Sea and the Gulf of Mexico: The National Hurricane Center is issuing advisories on Hurricane Ophelia, located over the eastern Atlantic Ocean about 100 miles southeast of the eastern Azores. A broad area of low pressure centered near the northern Leeward Islands is producing disorganized showers and squalls over portions of the Leeward Islands and adjacent waters. This activity is expected to spread over the Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico tonight and Sunday. Upper-level winds are expected to remain unfavorable for development during the next day or two, but the environment could become a little more conducive for some development early next week when the system begins to move northward and then recurves over the west-central Atlantic Ocean. * Formation chance through 48 hours...low...10 percent. * Formation chance through 5 days...medium...40 percent. $$ Forecaster Brown
