Serco Nederland BV is looking for a Configuration Management Engineer to support activities to the Programmes and Projects managed in HSO, ESTEC. Task Overview Configuration control covers both ESA internal activities and activities performed by Industrial Contractors. The preparation of adequate requirements and CM systems auditing are also part of the tasks. It includes the following typical duties Establishing adequate processes for proper Product configuration control, including Establishment of configuration control methods, procedures and standards configuration management planning, Configuration items identification, technical requirements base lining, production and maintenance of configuration item data list CIDL, Management of configuration evolution, baselines verification, asbuilt control and inspections Establishing andor assuring that adequate configuration control methods, procedures and standards are established andor maintained, consistent with applicable standardsrequirements Preparing formal requirements for inclusion in industrial contracts Participating in Project Reviews Conducting configuration audits and configuration inspections Supervising the processing and disposition of Change Requests andor Change Proposals Providing status data and maintaining a well structured record system acting as secretary to appropriate Boards established for the processing of changes Establishing and maintaining the approval system for all documents under formal ESA control, and maintaining the associated DRLs and DRDs Supporting the supervision and maintenance of the documentation library and archives Proposing automated methods and tools required to increase performance of configuration and documentation control tasks Specific Task Review of engineering documentation and ensure consistency at configuration level between ESA and Industry Participate in Project Reviews by reviewing configuration data, and support the process for generation of discrepancies RIDs, final disposition by originators, closure and status tracking Conduct documentation configuration audits and support hardware configuration inspections as needed, the latter in coordination with the product assurance function Act as secretary to Divisional Engineering and Verification Boards for Processing of changes, deviations and waivers Coordinating the review of projects requirements closure, the verification control documents in coordination with the related interfaces with Industryies. Provide project action item lists and closure status Provide supervision and maintenance of the documentation library and archives within existing databases Coordinate with the appropriate engineering teams for updating the content of the configured baseline Support Divisional ISO 9001 activities, prepare for audits Improve configuration management process in the division and its projects Qualifications and Requirements Applicants require a Masters degree in Engineering or equivalent or MBA, together at least 4 years of experience in a similar position in Space related activities. Essential Skills Proven experience in Configuration Management in Space CompaniesOrganizations An indepth knowledge of the Industry and ESA configuration management related working procedures and tools, like ECLPSE and its predecessor, DMS, the RID system for project reviews and DOORS for requirements verification Knowledge and understanding of the applicable ESA Configuration Management requirements and standards such as MSESARQ100, MSESARQ108, ECSSM40 Good sense of contacts and communications, ability to interface at appropriate level within and outside of the Directorate Reliability, rigor and initiative in the execution of the assigned work Proactive attitude to solving problems, identify priority actions and to handle high workload. Ability to work both autonomously and as part of a team within the boundaries of assigned tasks and stringent schedule Highly proficient in the use of modern activities and resource management support toolsdatabases of standard office automation support software packages including in particular advance usage of Excel MsOffice and in particular advanced use of Excel Experience as user of SAP and in particular ECC and SRM modules and familiarity with relevant ESA corporate applications e.g. esap is an asset. Ability to rapidly understand and adapt to ESA specific context and environment including ESA corporate IT applications Previous experiences in fields like Product Assurance, System Engineering and Production Control are an asset Excellent knowledge of the specific activities andor organisation, of the applicable configuration management working procedures and support tools are an asset Proficient in the English language, both written and spoken, knowledge of another official ESA language is an asset Past experience with ESA in relevant activities is an asset Experience in space system engineering and engineering processes control and capability to support projects review with engineering evaluation is highly preferable Knowledge of the HSO directorates programmes is an asset Please note that Serco reserves the right of changing the advertisement closing date or to close vacancy at any time.
