In addition, experience in validation of geophysical products from satellite data is highly desirable. Furthermore, the key person shall have practical, demonstrable experience with Algorithm software development using FORTRAN 9095 IntelGNULinux andor IBMPOWERAIX environments, Implementation of scientific algorithms from a given specification and their documentation, IDL programming language and object oriented aspects, Common meteorological data formats, i.e., BUFR, GRIB, HDF5, and netCDF, Coding and operation of optimal estimation methods for geophysical product retrieval from satellite data, Installing and running radiative transfer models for infrared and visible wavelengths, Authoring clear and concise technical documentation. NICETOHAVE SKILLSCONSIDERED AS AN ADVANTAGE Practical, demonstrable experience of the following will be advantageous Experience using the community RTTOV model from the clients NWPSAF, Anomaly correction processes, Source code control systems Subversion andor git. Tasks The Key person shall support the design, prototyping, operational implementation and validation of the product algorithms. The work is carried out in a small project team consisting of relevant experts. The key person will also be involved in the analysis and resolution of anomalies relating to the product generation software. The tasks of the key person will typically include Maintenance and extension of a prototyping system, Implementation, possible optimisation and validation of new and updated algorithms, Acceptance and implementation of third party algorithm software into the prototyping system, Preparation of technical notes on implementation issues and user guides, installation notes for the prototyping system, Monitoring and operating the product generation facilities both for future ground segments or currently for the MSG MPEF, Visualisation and analysis of geophysical products.
