For the location in Darmstadt, Germany we are looking for a Mission Control Operations Engineer fm at Eumetsat. Tasks Within the Operations Department, the Flight Operations Division FLO is charged to conduct space system flight operations, flight dynamics, mission analysis and mission control safely to maximize the mission return. Within FLO, the Mission Control Systems Team is responsible for the operation of all operational mission control systems. As a member of the FLO Mission Control Systems team, the Key Person shall provide support to the development and operation of the MSG Ground Segment and the EPS Overall Ground System OGS. Main duties are the operation of the MSG Central Facility CF and the EPS Mission Control System MCS, and supporting operational use of Mission Control Facility MCF Tools and the mission controlrelated multimission tools. The role comprises a range of tasks including the provision of support to the routine operation of the MCS, and the interfaces between the MCS and other components of the EPS Core Ground Segment CGS. The Key Person will perform the following tasks Support to routine operations Definition and maintenance of missioncontrol operations procedures, including System and ground segment procedures and operations guides Liaison with the spacecraft operations team to ensure the continuity and optimisation of spacecraft monitoring and control activities Liaison with the operations analysts to ensure continuity and optimisation of databaserelated activities Interface with other facilities within the operational ground segments to ensure the continuity and optimisation of ground segment and mission monitoring and control activities Interface with external elements of the operational Ground Segments to ensure the continuity and optimisation of data exchanges with the mission control systems Interface with the mission control systems maintenance team and industry representatives to ensure optimised performance, including participating in the definition and implementation of any changes Provision of support to operational ground segment analyses Provision of standbyoncall support as part of a team of MCS engineers Provision of support, as required, to critical operations Processing of system anomalies, their documentation, investigation, classification and resolutionmitigation, including participation in Anomaly Review Boards Participation in further technical meetings, formal reviews, and scheduling and planning meetings Support to modifications to the operational systems Interface with project teams on the implementation of system upgrades to support major operations projects, including System MidTerm Evolution Plan, recurrent satellites, and any System hardware and operating system obsolescence upgrade Processing of system modifications, including their documentation, approval, and implementation, including participation in Change Review Boards Support to, and participation in, the functional verification and operational validation of mission control systems and related elements, both standalone and in the context of an overall ground segment Support to the preparations for recurrent satellites and future satellite programs Provision of support to the development and operations preparation for recurrent satellites in existing operational programmes such as MetopC and MSG4 Provision of support to the development and operations preparation for future operational programmes such as Sentinel3, MTG and EPSSG Support to operations teams Provision of training, through written materials, practical demonstrations and presentations, to other members of the Operations Team Essential requirements In addition to having a university degree or equivalent in a relevant technical discipline, the Key Person shall have the following mandatory attributes at least seven years work experience in the operation of spacecraft control systems at least five years work experience developing andor maintaining spacecraft mission control systems software at least five years work experience developing andor maintaining software for a UNIX operating system at least two years work experience with the SCOS spacecraft control system at least two years work experience defining and implementing the verification and validation of spacecraft mission control systems software The Key Person shall possess excellent verbal and written communications skills and be confident to deal with a wide variety of people and to influence at all levels. Heshe shall have excellent presentation and training skills. Heshe shall be able to conduct all activities in an orderly and disciplined manner, shall be able to work calmly and correctly under stress and must be able to work with the minimum of supervision. Desirable skills Experience of the following would be an distinct advantage extensive experience at least three years in the use of databases and SQLrelated querying in relation to spacecraft mission control systems extensive experience at least three years in the definition, development, integration and acceptance testing of spacecraft mission control systems extensive experience at least three years in the operations preparation and routine operations of Geostationary GEO and Low Earth Orbit LEO satellite systems experience of using configuration management systems such as CVS experience of using satellite simulators familiarity with ECSS and CCSDS standards related to spacetoground interfaces and applicable to Satellite Monitoring Control Systems Packet Telemetry and Telecommand standards, PUS Packet Utilisation Standard, etc. familiarity with flight dynamics and mission planning functions and systems as applied to satellite operations familiarity with EPOCH IPS MC product suite from Integral Systems now Kratos Windows operating system Linux operating system leading a small team of engineers Other Information Fluency in English is mandatory Travel within Europe may be necessary Must be an EU national or possess a currently valid German Work Residence Permit Foreseen starting date is 01 January 2014 To guarantee that your application is processed, please apply via our website httpwww.scisys.dewhereweworkspacecareersspacejobs.html
