Applications from women are encouraged. Post Spacecraft Operations Engineer This post is classified A2A4 on the Coordinated Organisations salary scale. Location ESEC, Redu, Belgium Description Reporting directly to the Head of the Redu Spacecraft Operations Section within the Studies and Special Projects Division of DOPS. The postholder will be primarily involved in ongoing operations of the PROBA Spacecraft and in the study and preparation phases for future missions of this type. In addition the postholder is to support the Head of the Redu Spacecraft Operations Section regarding the evolution of ESEC and the execution of the operationsrelated activities at ESEC. The postholder performs the allocated tasks in close cooperation with the SC Operations Manager of the PROBA missions, acting as deputy if required. Duties Responsibilities and main duties For operational missions execution of satellite operations including spacecraft and payload health monitoring execution of detailed operation plan and procedures based on the generic scenarios provided by industry ground segment automation maintenance and development engineering support of troubleshooting and critical operations execution when required, preparation and validation of new mission Space and Ground Segment procedures management and coordination of operations and experiments use of Flight Dynamics support tools production of adhoc satellite operations and ground segment performance reports. For the above tasks, the PROBA Spacecraft Operations Engineer is supported by the PROBA operations team. For missions in the early phases up to commissioning, together with the Mission Operation Engineer and in close cooperation with the Future Studies Section in the Division active participation in the Project and Agency reviews to tackle the operations and ground segment aspects support to ground segment development, deployment and validation support, with the Redu operations team, to the operations preparation, System Validation Tests, launch and commissioning phases regular attendance of ad hoc meetings with Project, Industry and contractors. Technical competencies Developing, implementing and maintaining expertise and standards in the technical domains covered by the DivisionSection Experience in mission, spacecraft andor payload operations Capability to evaluate performance at mission level Behavioural competencies Ambassadorship Continuous Learning Integrity Teamwork Communication Customer Focus Education Applicants for this post should have a Masters degree or equivalent qualification in an engineering discipline. Additional requirements Applicants should have experience in space missionsrelated operations and control andor ground systems engineering. Knowledge of the ESA operations environment and its working methodologies is required, together with a demonstrated ability to analyse and sum up technical and programmatic information in a way leading to minimum costacceptable risk solutions. Applicants should be teamworkoriented, system and softwareminded and should as such possess good communication and organisational skills, and be able to establish and maintain efficient working interfaces with the entities concerned. They should also have the initiative to be able to organise and complete delegated tasks independently. The working language is English but a good knowledge of French is considered an important asset to be able to communicate with the staff at ESEC. A good knowledge of one of these is required. Knowledge of another Member State language would be an asset. The Agency may require applicants to undergo selection tests.
