DISCUSSION AND OUTLOOK ---------------------- At 200 AM PDT (0900 UTC), the center of Tropical Storm Hector was located near latitude 13.4 North, longitude 119.4 West. Hector is moving toward the west-northwest near 15 mph (24 km/h). A west- northwestward to westward motion at a slightly slower forward speed is expected during the next few days. Maximum sustained winds are near 40 mph (65 km/h) with higher gusts. Steady strengthening is forecast during the next several days, and Hector is expected become a hurricane later this week. Tropical-storm-force winds extend outward up to 45 miles (75 km) from the center. The estimated minimum central pressure is 1006 mb (29.71 inches). HAZARDS AFFECTING LAND ---------------------- None.
