Interests along the southern coast of Mexico should monitor the progress of the depression. DISCUSSION AND OUTLOOK ---------------------- At 400 PM CDT (2100 UTC), the center of Tropical Storm Vicente was located near latitude 13.3 North, longitude 92.2 West. Vicente is moving slowly toward the northwest near 2 mph (4 km/h). A turn toward the west and west-southwest, with some increase in forward speed, is expected through the weekend. On the forecast track, the center of Vicente should gradually move away from the coasts of Guatemala and southeastern Mexico. Maximum sustained winds have increased to near 40 mph (65 km/h) with higher gusts. Additional strengthening is forecast during the next couple of days. Vicente is a small tropical storm, and tropical-storm-force winds extend outward up to 35 miles (55 km) from the center. The estimated minimum central pressure is 1005 mb (29.68 inches). HAZARDS AFFECTING LAND ---------------------- RAINFALL: Through Wednesday morning, Vicente is expected to produce 5 to 10 inches of rain with local amounts to 15 inches across portions of El Salvador and southern Guatemala, with 3 to 6 inches and local amounts to 10 inches near the Pacific coast of southeastern Mexico.
