Cotton yarn prices have been further raised in the past seven days in India, as a result of a new jump of cotton fiber prices. Margins are falling at spinning mills and downward textile and apparel producers are protesting. Our review of Indian yarn prices covers the domestic and export markets, including carded and combed cotton, poly-cotton, poly-viscose, 100% polyester and 100% viscose. Major yarn production centres are covered with Tirupur (Tamil Nadu), Bhiwandi (Maharashtra) and Ludhiana (Punjab). Yarn prices are compared with fiber prices offering latest trends of spinners' margins. Market fundamentals are available on a monthly basis, including production and exports.

Viscose Staple Fiber and Spun Yarn Prices (Weekly Report)

Viscose prices have slightly bottomed out in the past week in China after heavily falling in March. A series of VSF facilities have been shut down for limiting losses and supporting prices whereas inventories have fallen at spinning mills. Viscose spun yarn prices in China, India and Pakistan are also available. Cotton linter, cotton pulp and wood pulp prices on domestic and import markets are being tracked over the last 12 months, in addition.

Cashmere prices have continued rising in the last months of 2018 and in January this year, reflecting the fall of Chines production, in line with a sharp increase of goat meat prices. Cashmere yarn prices have also surged in the past year, as reflected by our latest data. China Apparel Exports in Full 2018 (Country Report)

China's apparel exports have been far from plunging in the last year, partly due to a last-minute surge of shipments to the US market, ahead of a possible sharp increase of US tariffs this year. Exports to the European Union have been much more disappointing whereas sales to Japan and Korea were sharply dropping. Our statistical series provide a comprehensive picture of China's clothing exports in 2013-2018, including value changes per destination and per HS 4-digit categories. US and EU import data covering the last quarter of 2018 are also released with volume, value and unit value variations. China Yarn Prices: Domestic and Import Markets (Weekly Report)

Cotton yarn import prices have been raised in dollar terms in China, however dropping in yuan terms, due to the rise of the Chinese currency. Domestic yarns are less competitive, with imports being therefore potentially boosted. Our weekly report covers the China yarn domestic and import market indicators, as well as local market prices in Qianqing and Shaoxing (Zhejiang). Prices of a large number of counts are released for spun cotton, polyester, viscose and blends. Import prices are also available for yarns from India, Indonesia, Pakistan, and Vietnam. Domestic and import yarn prices are compared. All data are available for download.
