China Yarn Prices: Domestic and Import Markets (Weekly Report)

Yarn prices are now clearly falling in China, on both domestic and import markets. The sharp decline of cotton and polyester fiber prices in the last seven days has depressed demand, as buyers expect yarn prices will further decline in the coming period. Our weekly report covers the China yarn domestic and import market indicators, as well as local market prices in Qianqing (Zhejiang). Prices of a large number of counts are released for spun cotton, polyester, viscose and blends. Import prices are also available for cotton yarns. Domestic and import yarn prices are compared. All data are available for download.

Cotton prices have continued sharply falling in the last week, over a new deterioration of the China-US relationship. The rebound of global cotton production expected for the coming season is also pressuring prices on international but also on the domestic markets. Even in China, domestic cotton prices are sharply falling. Our weekly cotton report covers the international futures market in New York and China, and the physical indicator "A Index". E.U. Clothing Imports: Latest and Long-Term Trends (Monthly Report)

EU's clothing imports are no more rising in volume terms amid a sharp fall of Chinese shipments. Unit value have surged in March in euro terms although stable in US$ terms. Imports from Bangladesh have continued sharply increasing, reflecting the current shift in European buying from China to the low-income country. Our report covers monthly EU clothing import data, with historical trends being analyzed, and a specific focus on China vs Rest of World (RoW) and Bangladesh, and on knit vs woven clothing. Data are supplied in euro and in US dollars with historical data available for download, back to January 2000.
