You are experienced in space flight dynamics and want to become part of the command generation team for current and future European scientific missions. You have a master degree in a technical discipline, enjoy scientific computer programming under Linux and are proficient in the FORTRAN andor C language. You love to work in an international team and are eager to extend your technical skills. Then you are the ideal candidate to supplement our astrodynamics team at the European Operations Control Centre. Responsibilities Duties Command Generation Execution of and support to operational tasks Generation of task related command parameters Generation of task related reports Mission Planning Support Execution of and support to operational tasks Generation of mission planning related products, such as schedules and planning input Flight Dynamics Application Layer Maintenance of elements of the Flight Dynamics Application Layer Flight Dynamics System Development Specification of modifications, enhancements and additions to existing software elements Implementation of modifications, enhancements and additions to existing software elements Installation of modifications, enhancements and additions to existing software elements on operational platforms design, coordination and implementation of tests Participation in tests Setup procedures Flight Dynamics SubSystem configuration Coordination of internal and external interfaces and actitivities across subsystems General Flight Dynamics operations engineering activities Software development for computation of the dynamical behaviour of satellites, typically on Linux workstations using FORTRAN Participation in studies to evaluate Flight Dynamics aspects Participation in system tests, simulations and operations support Work in international teams. Information on the missions and the activities of ESOC can be found on www.esa.int Qualifications Experience Completed university degree in mathematics, physics, engineering or equivalent with high grades A good working knowledge of English Experience in space flight dynamics. Essential Skills Indepth familiarity with Linear algebra, in particular for problem solving related to geometry in the Euclidean 3 dimensional space. Calculus in one or several variables. Numerical methods for equations solving, integration of differential equations, function approximation and interpolation, optimisation, linear algebra problems. Classical mechanics, including kinematics and dynamics of point masses dynamics of rigid body, dynamics expressed in noninertial frames, conservation laws in mechanics, gravitational forces and field, orbit dynamics, keplerian orbits and Kepler laws. High sense of operational responsibility The capability to study independently complex and novel topics and to rapidly prototype SW for study purposes must be proven Software development in FORTRAN 7795 under Linux Good communication skills.

Senior Command Data Handling Engineer Job Description Astroscale is seeking to employ an experienced and motivated Senior Command Data Handling Engineer at our facility based in Harwell, UK. This is a unique opportunity to join a dynamic and rapidly growing company seeking to make a positive contribution to the growing problem of orbital debris that endangers mankinds continued use of space as an asset. This role will allow the right candidate to shape solutions for our missions. Whilst the candidate will primarily work in the UK, they will interact extensively with a larger team in Astroscales Japan Office and may expect to be required to travel to Tokyo as needed in support of Astroscale projects and operations. Responsibilities Lead development and design activities for the Command Data Handling Subsystems on Astroscale spacecraft derive and maintain subsystem requirements define and develop subsystem architecture perform tradeoff analysis of hardware software solutions Manage, subsystem data and processing budgets define FMECA and FDIR processes Coordinate with other teams at subsystem and at system level to define ConOps, ICDs, development and verification plans. Plan, prepare, lead, conduct electrical subsystems and system level verification tests, including environmental testing. Work with the UK based Ground segment and operations teams in support of our mission operations globally. Interact with partners and suppliers for the provision of CDH equipment. Support procurement engineers with specification, tradeoff and selection of CDH equipment. Participate in review of the deliverables in support of the project milestones. Essential Skills experience Diploma bachelor or masters degree in electrical engineering or relevant engineeringscience discipline. 5 years of commercial experience in electronic andor system design of Command Data Handling Systems for satellites. Demonstrable experience on designing systems that use industry defacto standards such as CCSDS, I2C, Spacewire, CAN, etc. Operational experience of CDH systems on spacecraft missions. Experience in developing and conducting test plans for spacecraft avionics. Good understanding of spacecraft mission lifecycle and milestones e.g. MDR, PDR, CDR, etc. Good understanding of system engineering managing requirements through the full project lifecycle. Desired Skills Experience Demonstrable experience of spacecraft design lifecycle at all stages from initial concept to design, test, and operations. Knowledge of software development methodologies embedded software engineering. Experience in FPGA fieldprogrammable gate array design using Verilog VHDL. Experience of analysis radiation tolerances and knowledge of radiation hardness assurance for Low Earth Orbit applications. A basic knowledge in the following areas debris removal, endoflife, inorbit servicing. Whilst the working language across all Astroscale divisions is English, proficiency in spoken andor written Japanese would be considered an asset.
