Taiwan to launch second 4G spectrum auction in Q3 2015

(Telecompaper) The Taiwanese government will start the second-stage auction of 4G mobile spectrum in the third quarter of 2015. The government expects to receive bids from six 4G operators, Want Daily reports, citing Shih Shih-hao, chairperson of Taiwan's National Communications Commission (NCC). The government expects to raise between TWD 15 billion (approximately USD 494 million) and TWD 30 billion (USD 989 million) from this auction. A total of 190 MHz of spectrum will be released, including 50 MHz for TDD-LTE technology and 140 MHz for FDD-LTE technology. As part of the first stage of Taiwan's 4G auction held in 2013, 270 MHz of spectrum was released for mobile broadband use, Shih said.

(Telecompaper) Greek regulator EETT announced that it has approved the three applicants for the auction of frequencies in the 900 and 2,600 MHz bands.The three existing mobile operators - Cosmote, Vodafone Greece and Wind Hellas - will all be allowed to bid for the spectrum.
