Tasks The successful candidate will work in our Darmstadt office to support operations preparation for phases CDE1 of the Heinrich Hertz H2Sat mission, and other future missions, on the following tasks Review, refine and complement relevant documentation generated during preceding phases Support the development of all the required documentation as per operational phase, according to ECSS standard Develop and validate the Flight Operations Procedures for LEOP, IOT and routine operations Prepare training material and provide training to other members of the operations team Define, coordinate, conduct and document system validation activities as simulation campaigns, SVTs, mission rehearsals, etc. Test and validate all operational items Perform operational configuration management Participate in technical meetings, formal reviews, and scheduling and planning meetings Support LEOP, platform payload IOT and relocation to final orbit slot as part of the operations team Essential requirements The successful candidate will have An university master degree in aerospace, mathematics, physics or equivalent A demonstrated and consolidated experience in the field of spacecraft operations Fluency in English. Senior Engineer, Spacecraft Subsystem Payload Context The incumbent ensures six sigma satellite payload availability by providing highly specialized engineering expertise in payload in all phases of a satellite life cycle from satellite specification to build phase and operations. HeShe is responsible to ensure that satellite health and safety is maintained all along its life cycle. Heshe plans, coordinates and performs required RF transponder testing and preparing and executing the required procedures for payload recovery in case of anomalies. Responsibilities Provide primary support for inorbit fleet payload operations Support satellite operations activity through payload procedure development, training, limitsalerts review and data trending Review and maintain satellite operational documentation for communication subsystem for inorbit fleet Support the anomaly management process through anomaly reviews, corrective action development and payload performance analysis for the inorbit fleet Provide 247on call support during payload system testing and during spacecraft operating life for anomaly resolution Maintain technical interface with Satellite Manufacturer and Spacecraft Operations to ensure proper communications of requirements, performance and anomaly resolution for payload subsystem Participate in design reviews, satellite test activities and review of payload technical documentation in preparation for start of service for new satellites Travel as required Experience Qualifications Masters Degree or equivalent, with a specialization which includes telecommunication 15 years related work experience in RF engineering work, ideally in relation to spacecraft disciplines Understanding of payload architecture, design and manufacturing RF equipment, repeater and antenna subsystem Link budget Repeater RF performance measurement Integration and testing Quality control essentials Experience in High Throughput Satellite Engineering is an asset Experience in Radio Network Engineering is an asset Experience in spacecraft payload mission specification is an asset Experience in satellite procurement activities is an asset Ability to work day to day inorbit fleet issues and operations with other members of space operations and space engineering teams Excellent communications skills both written and oral Strong computer software skills required We offer you A diverse workplace. For over 35 years we have worked in the Space industry delivering complex, missioncritical space systems. We work on the major European navigation, communication and earth observation programmes and are specialists in space security and ground control systems. CGI are currently seeking Spacecraft Operations Engineers for future opportunities within the European Space agencys Operations Centre ESOC in Darmstadt, Germany. Working within a small team of highly motivated engineers you will take ownership of a set of the spacecraft subsystems to prepare and validate the Flight Operations Procedures, prepare inputs for LEOP and commissioning timeline and prepare for and conduct System Validation Tests SVT in readiness for launch. During the launch the Spacecraft Operations Engineers, as part of a broader Mission control Team, perform a crucial role in monitoring and commanding the spacecraft in these critical early phases to ensure that the spacecraft reaches its designated orbit in the expected state to perform its mission. As a Spacecraft Operations engineer you will be requested to assume the responsibility and perform activities for additional subsystems or systems within the scope of general SOE services, including crossvalidation of procedures, test, validation and operation of the Mission Control System, Mission Planning System and Simulator. Spacecraft Operations Engineers are primarily assigned to a particular mission within mission families including Earth Observation, Astronomy, Science and Navigation. Typically you may be called upon from time to time to support other missions within these families, allowing you to develop your skills and grow your career beyond the operational lifetime of any one mission. Tasks The key person shall be integrated into the Sentinel3 Spacecraft Operations Team. The key person shall be primarily assigned to Satellite 3 FCT to support the routinine operarations of Senitnel3A as well as start the prepartion of the Sentinel3B when handed over from ESOC to EUMETSAT. Essential requirements In addition to having a University degree or equivalent in a relevant discipline, the key person shall have a demonstrated experience in at least two of the following mandatory skills Experience on Spacecraft Operations on Low Earth Orbit LEO, 3 axis stabilised spacecraft with responsibility for one or more platform subsystems or instruments during operational validation, commissioning or routine operations phases Experience of at least 3 years of SCOS2000 mission control system and use of the MOIS operations preparation tool Demonstrated experience in satellite performance monitoring and reporting aspects including anomaly analysis and solving in liaison with satellite industry, procedure change control and configuration management processes Experience in the operation or development of satellite ground segment facilities, in particular procedure development, monitor and control, mission planning, onboard software management, performance analysis, configuration management and simulator facilities.
