Aufgaben Tasks The objective of the Spacecraft Operations Engineer is the preparation, validation and execution of operations related to the datahandling, TTC and Payload subsystems. The XMM Mission The XMMNewton mission is a cornerstone ESA Science mission. As an observatory type mission it provides observations of Xray objects like black holes, neutron stars or active galactic nuclei. XMM was launched in December 1999 and is planned to be operated at least until 2012. Data are downlinked continuously via a ground station network of ESA and external stations. The Integral Mission Integral is ESAs gamma ray Observatory, it is the first space observatory that can simultaneously observe objects in gamma rays, Xrays and visible light. Integral was launched in 2002 and is currently planned to be operated until December 2014 with further extensions possible.
