Galileo Security Operations Validation Engineer J2587 Telespazio VEGA has been supporting the European Space Industry for over 30 years, including ESA, DLR, CNES and EUMETSAT. Key objectives of this position include We are looking for a degree educated Spacecraft Operations Engineer to monitor and control the overall preparation and execution of the Galileo security operations activities, including the associated PRS User Segment activities. Responsibilities Duties The Engineer will support the Galileo Security Office in the coordinating of the definition, preparation, testing, validation, and implementation of the Galileo security operations for the system and security users, as required to meet the overall Galileo requirements. This concerns the security operations activities performed in the Galileo Control Centres Oberpfaffenhofen and Fucino, the Galileo remote stations, the Galileo external entities and the PRS User Communities, For his day to day work heshe will report to the Head of the Galileo Ground Segment Operations Security Unit in order to provide regular support to the Galileo Operations Procurement Office. Tasksresponsibilities will be Monitor the Galileo Security Operations Engineering activities for the implementation of the System SECOPS including the associated SoC and VCD documents Monitor the Galileo Security Operations Validation activities by ensuring readiness of security procedures for Satellite, Ground Segment and System Test Campaigns Monitor the operational security interfaces to the Mission Level Operational Bodies Flight Key Cell, CDA, GSMC Ensure the Security Operations readiness for GALILEO Services Provision Support the Galileo accreditation process as main interface between the industrial operations teams and the Mission Level Accreditation bodies Support the GALILEO Security Requirements and System Accreditation Unit by ensuring the flow down and implementation of the Mission Level Security Specifications Support the GALILEO Security Requirements and System Accreditation Unit by ensuring that the different Operations Contractors implement the Security Accreditation Methodology and associated outputs Threat Scenario Coverage both As Designed and As Built Coordinate the technical definition, implementation and validation of the operational security measures including ground and space assets coming from Risk Treatment Plans Support the Galileo Anomaly Review Boards and Configuration Control Boards in the area of Security Operational Activities Support the PRS User Communities with respect to the operational activities to be implemented as soon as the Galileo PRS signals are available to them. Qualifications Experience Candidates should hold a University degree or equivalent education in Electric or Electronic Engineering, Aerospace Engineering or Telecommunications Engineering. Essential Skills Significant experience in senior position for security operations related activities, with experience in management tasks A proven experience in in a commercialindustrial environment is required Fluency in English, both in speech and writing. Desirable Skills Experience related to developments in the Galileo project GIOVE, IOV, IOC. Qualities Teamplayer Selfstarter, able to work independently with little supervision. Further Details Based at ESTEC, the work will require regular travelling to the different Galileo Sites and PRS User Communities. Closing Date for applications is 17 February 2013. A vacancy has arisen for a Functional Validation Engineer with Astrium in Stevenage. The Central Engineering technical unit for Data Processing, On Board Software Dependability comprises departments in UK, France and Germany. The function of the technical unit is to provide a central competence that meets the evolving needs of the business, working on satellite platforms, payloads and equipment. The UK department is responsible for the resourcing and technical management of the Functional Validation FV aspects of the Earth Observation, Navigation and Science ENS satellite projects. It relates to all activities set in place for verifying and validating a system from a functional point of view. Specifically this means integration of avionics equipment, tests engineering, writingchecking up procedures, production of the test procedures, investigation of anomalies. The Candidate is required to understand and handle the avionics tests set up with real hardware equipment andor simulator. The FV activity is based on a consistent use of simulation models and facilities, databases and procedures throughout all project phases, so as to achieve a consistent process for harmonised development and Validation of satellite hardware and software, checkout software and checkout equipment. Process Improvement initiatives are being constantly performed to make the FV more efficient and consistent across the various projects. The key responsibilities of the role are as follows Testing Tasks The successful candidate will initially join one of the ENS projects as part of the Functional Verification team and, after an initial period of training, will be participating in the preparation, implementation and execution of functional tests on simulated and realtime test benches. Tests will cover the following subsystems Attitude and Orbit Control AOCS, Data Handling DHS, Failure Detection and Incident Recovery FDIR, Payload and System Control. The role will also involve working on support activities, for instance anomaly resolution and management, configuration control, process improvement. Tasks include Establish the necessary and sufficient configuration to perform the Functional Validation task. Validation of the functional chains through end to end open loop tests AOCS, DHS, ... Validate the nominal and reconfiguration functions of the subassembly through closed loop tests The development and debug of Automated Test Procedures ATP and scripts, in ELISA language, working within a specified process and utilisation of Templates and FV Tools against a test specification this will include liaison with the various project architects and domain specialists. Execution of the ATPs on the various test benches together with test data analysis and Test Report Compilation this will include liaison with specialist areas for result data analysis, technical management and Product Assurance PA. Investigation of anomalies and diagnosis determination of root cause equipment, environment model, software flight, test bed, data bases, procedures, tests specifications. Process Improvement The candidate should expect to be involved in managing process improvements typically these tasks will include the liaison with other departments, management of the task, definition and implementation of the improvement. The process Improvements will be in Liaison with the various Project teams, architects and specialists.
