ProgrammeProject Manager Earth Observation Data Acquisition and Processing

Telespazio VEGA Deutschland is looking for a ProgrammeProject Manager to lead a multinational consortium tasked with the development and provision of a multimillion Payload Data Acquisition and Processing Segment for a European Earth Observation programme. The project will start in early 2017. The project covers the provision of the Ground Station, the Network Infrastructure, the Payload Data Processing and the preparation and integration at different sites across Europe. The project spans from the preliminary design to the onsite verification and handover to the customer. In addition to experience in managing multimillion projects, the project manager requires experience in provision and operation of satellite data processing ground segments. The project manager will be supported by the Telespazio VEGA Deutschland Project Management Office. Submission deadline will be June 6th 2016. RESPONSIBILITIES DUTIES Execution of the project within project schedule and budget and to the satisfaction of the customer Management of the consortium conformance of the industrial team to project objectives according to contractual agreements and resolution of problems Ensuring the project is conducted in line with the applicable processes and standards on the customer side as well as on the company side. Planning and management of all resources of the project Identification, analysis and mitigation of the risks Management of conflicts that occur within the project Ensuring appropriate quality and configuration management through continued monitoring and evaluation Supporting regular project reviews and audits Procurement of COTS HW and SW QUALIFICATIONSEXPERIENCE A degree in aerospace or informatics or mathematics or physics, or equivalent General project management experience in leading multimillion projects with multiple, multicultural subcontractorspartners located at different sites. ESSENTIAL SKILLS Ability to plan and execute a large project effectively coordinating economic, technological and human resources within project budget and schedule Ability to lead a larger project engineeringdevelopment team Ability to effectively communicate with all stakeholders of a larger project at different levels of an organisation Experience in provision and operation of satellite data processing ground segments Ability to understand and interpret contract terms and conditions with commercial sensitivity and to negotiate opportune contract amendments Ability to ensure a high quality standard of the project output by appropriate attention to a quality management system Reporting, monitoring and evaluation of the financial status of the project Knowledge of system engineering standards, a good understanding of the software development life cycle, i.e. Vmodel Understanding of the risks in procurement andor software development and management of such risks Ability to negotiate in English.
