Skills and Experience The following skills and experience are mandatory Master or PhD in materials sciences or mechanical engineering Minimum 4 years of experience in materials and processes engineering Good knowledge about general materials test methodologies and especially experience in mechanical testing and fatigue life assessment Experience in defining and executing test plans for materials qualification and process validation Capability to take decisions for selection of materials and processes for space applications Fluency in English is mandatory knowledge of another European language is an advantage. Perform all measurements and analyses on metallic as well as nonmetallic materials including cleanliness and contamination control related activities as well as PCBs and electronic assembly on a variety of destructive and nondestructive test equipmenttools. This includes also the issuing of dedicated testing procedures and documentation development as well as inclusion of test requests and test results in the relevant quality management systems and databases. Set up and operate equipmentanalysis tools devoted to the assessment of space environmental effects. This includes assessment by simulating the space environment vacuum, radiation, ATOX, contamination, thermal as well as prepost characterisation by analytical techniques thermal analysis, chemical analysis, physical and microscopic analysis, surface analysis, spectroscopic analysis, NDI techniques etc.. Recording sample properties or condition during and after test, accurately and legibly. Draft relevant test reports for all performed test activities. Checking on test equipment performance and reporting any anomalies or faults. Improving test procedures and ensuring that these are executed correctly. Maintenance of the relevant test equipment, ensuring that the equipment under your responsibility is kept in an operational state and all necessary routine calibration and maintenance activities are performed. Skills and Experience The following skills and experience are mandatory You have a Technical Degree Bsc., Diploma or equivalent from a recognised Institution or equivalent. You have at least 4 years of relevant work experience. You have proven handson experience in nondestructive investigation such as Xray tomography, XRD You have proven handson experience in static, dynamic and thermomechanical characterisation of materials You have proven handson experience in failure investigations and root cause analysis Combined with a solid background in materials engineering, including metallurgy, polymer composites, adhesives, ceramics and glasses You have strong materials laboratory handson experience related to metallic as well as nonmetallic materials and manufacturing and applied processes including cleanliness and contamination control related activities as well as PCBs and electronic assembly characterisationverification and failure investigation a strong background on space simulation facilities is an asset. You have proven understanding and knowledge of analytical techniques for materials analysis and ability to carry them out in compliance to an ISO 17025 or other Quality Management System applicable standards You have capability of working in a timely and multitasking manner in order to meet assigned deadlines You have good interpersonal and communication skills You are able to issue clear and concise materials testing reports.
