Materials and Processes Engineer Key Tasks and Responsibilities The Materials and Process Engineer will interface with functional responsibles for assembly, integration and test procurement, manufacturing and design exercising a high level of technical and quality control on materials and processes in order to assure the performance, reliability and reproducibility of results. Typical tasks include Ensure that materials, manufacturing processes, production resources and their subsequent application comply with quality and design requirements Contribute to materials and processes selection, development, evaluation and qualification. Contribute to the disposition of nonconformances Participate in risk reviews of product designdevelopment and manufacturing issues Manage declared materialsprocessesparts lists Establish materials and processes specifications on supplier and monitor supplier compliance. Skills Experience You will have the following qualifications and relevant experience University degree in material science, physics, chemistry or any other relevant field It is mandatory to have working experience in the space industry as well as work experience with relevant portions of the ECSS standards Experience in quality management is an asset Fluency in English is mandatory knowledge of German is an advantage. Materials and Processes Engineer 1611084 Job Description We are looking for a Materials and Processes Engineer for our client ESTEC. Your main tasks will include Carry out Materials and Processes reviews, Materials and Processes Control Boards MPCBs and participate as PA support in ESA Programme reviews. Support major NonConformances Review Board activities, carry out failure investigations and define laboratory work accordingly Supporting the inclusion of results in internal databases. You will be working in a team that handles the following tasks which would require you to have a background in the following Testing of adhesive bonding systems and processes, including adhesives applications for metals and nonmetallic materials. Experience in one or more of the following techniques is also required Thermal analysis Differential scanning calorimetry DSC, temperaturemodulated DSC, dynamic mechanical thermal testing DMTA, thermo gravimetric analysis TGA, TMA, DEA, coupled thermal analysis, LFA, DDS etc. Materials characterisation techniques Optical microscopy, scanning electron microscopy SEM, atomic force microscopy AFM, IR UV spectroscopy, thermooptical characterisations as well as surface sensitive techniques like ESCA. Maintenance of the relevant test equipment. The Contractor shall ensure that the equipment under his responsibility is kept in an operational state and shall ensure that all necessary routine calibration and maintenance activities are carried out.
