Global sporting goods retailer Decathlon is nearing the finishing line on a decade-long project that will see all textile and footwear items labelled with their environmental impact by the end of next year. (Telecompaper) Last week was the the year's best so far for the European telecoms sector. Our index was up 4.0 percent, outperforming the EuroStoxx 50 index (+2.5%) and reversing much of the previous week's losses. The year-to-date performance of our index (-11%) and its benchmark (-8.3%) have come closer together. There was a record number of eights stocks making double digit gains. Earnings reports were generally welcomed, except those coming out of the satellite sector. BT made a 15 percent jump on regulatory developments. The western and southern European players faired quite well, with just two exceptions.

(Telecompaper) Global smartwatch shipments leaped 67 percent year-on-year in the third quarter to 10 million units, according to the latest study from Strategy Analytics. The number was at 6.0 million the year before. Apple Watch maintained its top position with a worldwide market share of 45 percent, with Fitbit jumping into second place, overtaking Samsung and Garmin.
