Description The tasks of the Consultant will typically include Supporting routine operations involving the MSG, MTP and EPS data processing systems, including o Monitoring and reporting on the performance of the MSG, MTP and EPS data processing systems and the quality and availability of the MSG and MTP Level 1 and Level 2 products and EPS Level 0 to Level 2 products o Investigating anomalies relating to the performance of the MSG, MTP and EPS data processing systems and the quality and availability of the MSG and MTP Level 1 and Level 2 and EPS Level 0 to Level 2 products o Preparing and reviewing technical documentation relating to data processing operations o Providing Standby callout support Supporting the further development of the MSG and EPS data processing systems, including the specification and validation of system updates Supporting the operations preparations for future MSG and EPS spacecraft Supporting the preparations for Meteosat Third Generation Attendance at technical meetings Participation in formal reviews. Profile In addition to having a University degree or equivalent in a relevant discipline, the Consultant shall have A minimum of 3 years experience in the realtime acquisition, Level 0 processing and Level 1 processing of data andor Level 2 processing of data from imaging andor sounding instruments on remote sensing spacecraft Significant experience of validating complex remote sensing data processing systems Experience with UNIXLinux operating systems. Furthermore, it would be a distinct advantage for the Consultant to have experience with or knowledge of some of the following Imaging and sounding instrumentation for remote sensing spacecraft Programming Languages e.g. C, C and Fortran Scripting Languages e.g. Perl, Python, shell Spacecraft andor ground segment operations Knowledge andor experience of geophysical remote sensing data processing, e.g. Image Navigation and Registration INR, radiometric correction, calibration algorithms and retrieval of geophysical parameters The Consultant shall be able to conduct all activities in an orderly and disciplined manner, shall be able to work calmly and correctly under stress and must be able to work with the minimum of supervision.
