Job description For Termas longterm customer, the European Southern Observatory ESO, an international astronomical institute based in Garching close to Munich, we are currently looking for an experienced Software Engineer to support the ALMA Computing Team within the European ALMA Support Centre in JAVA software development. The Atacama Large Millimetersubmillimeter Array ALMA, an international partnership of Europe, North America and East Asia in cooperation with the Republic of Chile, is one of the largest astronomical observatories in existence. ALMA is a single telescope of revolutionary design, composed of 66 high precision antennas located on the Chajnantor plateau, at 5000 meters altitude in northern Chile. All antennas are now at the ALMA site and the observatory is transitioning towards fullscale science operations. Responsibilities We seek an experienced minimum 3 years software engineer to work on the full software development life cycle of JAVA applications JAVA webbased applications JavaScript singlepage applications Candidate selection will be driven by software skills, domain knowledge and ability to function in a scientific environment. Fulltime position Start July 2016 Based at ESOs facilities in Garching Munich, Germany, but occasional short trips to the observatory in Chile and other partnership locations 12 weeks are necessary. One of our Space Clients in Germany are looking for an Aerosol Product Development engineer to work in the Technical Scientific Support Department as a member of the Remote Sensing and Products Division RSP. The role would ideally suit a contractor looking for a long term consultancy role within the space industry. The submission deadline for applicants is 25th November 2015. The responsibilities will cover the development of aerosol products from instruments on a series of satellites, with a particular focus on multisensory products. Evaluation and refinement of aerosol algorithms for the current instrument is also in scope and further development and extension of algorithms for application to future satellite missions will be considered. The main focus of the activity is the exploitation of GOME2 UVVisible radiances and polarisation sensitive data together with IASI infrared radiances as well as AVHRR imaging data. Tasks This consultancy is primarily to support the development of aerosol optical and microphysical products from instruments on a series of satellites, with a particular focus on multisensor products. However evaluation and refinement of aerosol algorithms for the current Spinning Enhanced Visible InfraRed Imager SEVIRI instrument is also in scope and further development and extension of algorithms for application to future satellite missions will be considered.
