Qualcomm expects USD 4.5-4.7 billion from Apple settlement in Q3

(Telecompaper) Qualcomm said it expects to receive USD 4.5-4.7 billion in back revenues and payments from Apple as part of the recently announced settlement of their legal disputes from the past two years. The money will be booked in Qualcomm's fiscal third quarter to June, along with the first current royalties from Apple and its contract manufacturers. The announcement was made alongside better-than-expected Q2 results from Qualcomm, which also included a weak underlying outlook for the current quarter.

Qualcomm, Apple agree to settle legal disputes, start new licensing agreement

(Telecompaper) Qualcomm and Apple have agreed to put an end to their licensing dispute and sign a new deal. The settlement includes an unspecified payment from Apple to Qualcomm and an end to all their litigation, including with contracters. The companies also have reached a six-year licence agreement, effective from 01 April, including a two-year option to extend, and a multiyear chipset supply agreement.
