RYANAIR chief Michael O'Leary's goal for 2015 is to reach up to 97 million passengers with his budget airline. The company's profit predictions soared by 20pc at the end of 2014 after a pledge by the controversial businessman to "stop deliberately p***ing people off".

Ryanair Credits Customer Focus For Growth

The no-frills carrier, which has historically been the butt of jokes about its attitude to customers, launched its "Always Getting Better" programme in the wake of poor financial results last year. It is now predicting to make between a 810m to a 830m after tax - a rise of up to a 50m on previous guidance.

Ryanair raises profit forecast after surge in passenger numbers

Since a pledge last year by outspoken Chief Executive Michael O'Leary to stop "unnecessarily pissing people off," Ryanair has slashed penalty charges such as for excess baggage and not having a boarding pass, overhauled its web site, tripled its marketing budget and launched business class fares. It attributed the stronger than expected initial winter performance to the newfound focus on customer service, a stronger forward booking strategy and substantial fare and unit cost advantages over other European airlines.
