The key person shall support the Data Processing Team of the System Engineering and Projects SEP Division at EUMETSAT. The Data Processing Engineer Key Person shall support the Sentinel3 Operations with respect to EUMETSATs Marine Payload Data Ground Segment PDGS maintenance in particular anomaly correction and software release processes in the area of data processing systems from instrument source packet level through to level2. The Key Person shall also support the coordination of the evolutions of these systems. The Key Persons duties will include a range of tasks, from preparing and providing the support of the day to day operations and maintenance currently in the launch preparation phase, the analysis and testing of the facilities including the handling of anomalies, and the design of upgrades and configuration changes for these facilities. The Key Person shall support the team acting as the focal point for integrating the individual software components into the related data processing systems, covering all aspects of system integration and testing, including support to the endtoend testing of the complete production system. The Key Persons duties will also cover the contribution to the settingup and implementation of maintenance policies and procedures as well as the coordination with external providers of maintenance services. This may also entail the participation in the specification and development of monitoring tools for Sentinel3. In support to operations, the Key Person may also be required to provide oncall support as part of a team of maintenance engineers. PROFILE At least 3 years experience in the maintenance andor engineering of software based systems preferably missioninstrument data processing related Knowledge of software development lifecycles and demonstrable experience Competence in software testing, unit test suite maintenance, automated testing, verification and validation Experience in software debugging and profiling Experience of source code control systems preferably Subversion. The following specific technical skills are highly desirable Experience with Processing Frameworks andor Processing Infrastructures Knowledge of the ESA generic Instrument Processing Facility IPF interface specification CCJava programming language experience in a UNIXLinux based environment Knowledge of scripting languages e.g. Python, Perl Knowledge of web technologies, programming and markup languages e.g. Apache, CGI, JavaScript, XML and related technologies XPATH, SVG, etc.. The official languages of EUMETSAT are English and French. The working language for the position is English and therefore the Engineer must be able to work effectively in this language and have knowledge of the other. The key person would be a member of the EPSSG System Team in the Low Earth Orbit Division LEO at EUMETSAT and be involved in supporting the phase CD system engineering activities related to the specification, design and development of the EPSSG system. The tasks and responsibilities of the key person to be undertaken during the EPSSG Phase CD will typically include the following Verify that all external system interfaces are identified and sufficiently covered in system requirements and system model. Verify that the major internal inter segment system interfaces are identified and sufficiently covered in system requirements and system model. Implementation of any changes to the system model identified in order to aid the interface documentation. Coordination and definition of technical interfaces with the external partners and service providers Organisehold meetings and workshops with external and major internal interface partners to establish interface detailsagreements Generate and maintain the system Interface Control Documents ICD. Provide support to general system engineering activities Analysis and trade off activities Preparation and maintenance of system technical specification documentation of system design and justification ad hoc internal reviews system level formal reviews Provide support to progress meetings Support IVV activities PROFILE The key person shall have the following experience and background University degree in the domain of engineering, science, or equivalent. At least 5 years of experience in the field of engineering of space andor ground system. Experience of large space systems space andor ground segment. Experience of interface management and definition. Familiarity with mechanisms and tools for detailed interface definition. Demonstrated capability to prepare and manage ICD. The following experience would be additional assets Experience in the area of LowEarth Orbiting satellites LEO. Experience in CORE design tool from Vitech. Experience with DOORs.
