You will support ESA in the Copernicus Space Component Coordinated Data Access System CSCDA project during the implementation cycle and operational deployment of the followup project PRISM Copernicus contributing missions access support functions and platform, responding to Copernicus Service Projects CSP evolving needs. We are seeking an experienced Software Support Engineer mfd to work at our clients facility EUMETSAT in DarmstadtGermany, travel overseas andor within Europe may be required for certain activities. EUMETSAT currently operates the Meteosat Transition Programme MTP space and ground satellite system, the Meteosat Second Generation MSG and the EUMETSAT Polar System EPS space and ground satellite systems Jason2 ground systems and a number of multimission facilities. The focus of routine operations at EUMETSAT is the provision, by effective utilisation of all elements of space and ground systems, of timely and reliable operational services to the users. The EUMETSAT TSS Technical and Scientific Support Department provides in an integrated manner scientific and engineering support to EUMETSATs programmes during the development and operations phases and process assurance and project control to the whole organisation. Within the TSS Department, the GSI Generic Systems and Infrastructure division is in charge of engineering, maintaining and upgrading generic ground segment functions, services, infrastructure and tools in response to requirements of operational and future programmes. In particular, the MCAT Mission Control Applications and Tools Team is responsible for the maintenance and evolution of all Satellites and Ground Segment MC applications and tools. This includes MC kernel, MC archive, Flight Dynamics, Mission Planning functions and the MCrelated tools. YOUR FUTURE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Maintenance and Evolution activities Software development using FORTRAN, C and Java engineered in Windows and partly Unix environments, interacting with Commercial Off the Shelf COTS products Preventive maintenance Support to the 247 smooth running of facility software applications and their operating systems and in the case of anomalies affecting operations, identifying and applying appropriate first line corrective actions ensuring that in the case of problems with applications, operating systems or COTS, that the operational configuration can be restored Corrective maintenance Investigation into relevant anomalies and solutions, their documentation and classification, with suitable, followup of software updates delivery Evolutive maintenance Analysis of userdriven requirements, generation of software requirements, design, implementation and verificationtesting activities Verificationtesting activities Generation of verificationtest procedures and delivery documentation, participation in verification and regression testing activities at unit and system level, participation in factory acceptance testing campaigns and execution of onsite verification testing at integration level System upgrades Analysis, planning and management of application, operating system and COTS upgrades and reconfigurations, taking into account any compatibility issues Definition and management of technical documentation and procedures in support of these activities. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS TO BE SUCCESSFUL IN THIS ROLE In addition to having a University degree in a relevant engineering discipline, the consultant shall demonstrate significant knowledge and experience in the area of software development. The consultant shall have skills and experience in software development with the following MANDATORY AREAS Domain Skills Extensive experience minimum 5 years in the definition, development and maintenance of Flight Dynamics software applications mainly oriented to GEO missions Experience with support to Operations for GEO satellite Flight Dynamics Systems showing a sufficient understanding of Flight Dynamics principles e.g. Orbit determination, Orbit maintenance, Fuel estimation, etc. Good knowledge and understanding with working experience evidence of space related standards ECSS and CCSDS related to spacetoground interfaces. GSA AND THE GALILEO SECURITY MONITORING CENTRE GSMC The European GNSS Agency GSA is responsible for the operations and service provision for the European Global Navigation Satellite Systems GNSS EGNOS and Galileo. By developing a new generation of GNSS, Europe is laying the foundation for new hightechnology industry development, leading to job creation and economic growth. The Galileo Security Monitoring Centre GSMC is an integral part of the Galileo infrastructure responsible for monitoring and responding to security threats and alerts, and the overall operational status of systems components. For Public Regulated Services PRS, the Centre is the interface with governmental entities for cryptographic keys requests. The GSMC also oversees the content of security messages broadcast by Galileo satellites and supports the European External Action Service in case of threat to the security of the European Union or of a Member State. The GSMC is currently composed of four teams operational, engineering, facility management and security based in two sites GSMC Master site SaintGermainenLaye, France GSMC Backup site San Martin de la Vega, Community of Madrid, Spain TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES The GSA is looking to recruit qualified engineers to support key activities of the Galileo Security Monitoring Centre. The desirable profiles are Configuration Support Officer Engineering Support Officer When applying, please clearly indicate for which profiles you apply in section 7. Motivation letter. The Configuration Support Officer profile 1 will support the GSMC project activities, reshape the integrated logistic support of the centre in line with the systems evolutions and assist the GSMC Operational team to develop and update documents maintenance operations. The Engineering Support Officer profile 2 will be responsible for the configuration and change management processes of the department. Heshe will be also supporting the Anomaly management and Validation activities as well as the training and certification activities by Organising Anomaly Review Boards and Configuration Change Boards, ensuring the correct interfacing of the GSA PAQA headquarters processes Maintain the Configuration Management Database and organise configuration audits and inventory checks Draft Test Cases and prepare Validation Reports Support the coordination, scheduling and execution of training certification and test activities Prepare Training and Certification Reports. The abovementioned tasks and responsibilities will be conducted in the English language.
