Standard WK49719, Test Method for Determining the Flexural Strength of a Geosynthetic Cementitious Composite Mat (GCCM) Using the Three-Point Bending Test, is being created by ASTM International committee. Said standard supports emergence of geosynthetic material increasingly used in soil erosion protection and other construction projects. According to ASTM member John Paulson, "Existing standards do not directly address these multiple phases of the material."

Jay Gandhi, Ph.D., regulatory affairs manager at Metrohm USA (Friendswood, TX) received ASTM International Award of Merit and accompanying title of fellow for his work on ASTM Committee D19 on Water. ASTM member since 2003, Gandhi contributed to development of several standard test methods and interlaboratory studies related to inorganic constituents in water. He has also developed several industry and market-based applications using instrumentation during his scientific career.

ASTM International Committee B02 on Nonferrous Metals and Alloys honored Terry Gabel, senior metallurgical engineer at Swagelok (Solon, OH) with Gary M. Kralik Distinguished Service Award. ASTM member since 2003, Gabel was recognized for service as B02 recording secretary and on Subcommittee on Refined Nickel and Cobalt and Their Alloys (B02.07). Gabel also serves as American Society for Metals member.
