ASTM Committee to develop standards for driverless AGVs.

Technical committee F45 on Driverless Automatic Guided Industrial Vehicles will develop standardized nomenclature and definitions of terms, recommended practices, guides, test methods, specifications, and performance standards for AGVs. In addition, F45 will encourage research by sponsoring symposia, workshops, and publications related to AGVs. Some topics for potential standards development include terminology; specifications for navigation technologies; and test methods for battery life.

ASTM Standard covers penetration testing of surgical needles.

ASTM International standard, ASTM F3014, Test Method for Penetration Testing of Needles Used in Surgical Sutures, focuses on penetration testing of such needles. Having low and consistent penetration force provides users with control for accurate placement of surgical needle during procedure, especially when there is limited space in which to maneuver needle, and when thick or hard tissue is encountered.

ASTM Nonmetallic Lath Standards apply to use with stucco.

ASTM International Committee C11 on Gypsum and Related Building Materials and Systems approved 2 nonmetallic plaster base standards. While ASTM C1787 provides minimum performance requirements when nonmetallic plaster base (lath) is used with stucco, ASTM C1788 lists minimum installation requirements for nonmetallic lath with stucco. Also available, ASTM C1764 offers test methods for evaluating performance of vertical wall applications of lath under various test exposures.
